Why don't the Democrats get a clue in the SS debate?
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 05:41 PM by independentchristian
Stop playing along with this stupid privatization scam and just call it what it is, all of the time.

"The Bush administration is trying to kill Social Security!!!"

That's what the Democrats need to say and they need to say it all of the time. Don't stop saying it.

Who taught these Democrats politics?

When in the world will these people learn how to dictate the debate? How to grab headlines that support their viewpoint?

"The Bush administration wants to kill Social Security!!!"

They want to "kill" it. They want it to "die." They are trying to make social security "extinct." They are on the side of the people who didn't want Social Security to exist in the first place.

The Bush administration wants to "kill" Social Security!

I'm getting sick and tired of these stupid Democrats allowing Bush to go around like he's trying to "save" social security with this scheme, because that's what a lot of people in this country think that he is doing. They think Bush is trying to save, i.e., prolong and enhance Social Security with this crap.

No, tell it like it is.

He's tring to "kill" it!

Learn to dictate the debate. Every democrat who speaks about this in Congress should use the words "trying kill social security."

2. Don't need it.
I'm very calm. I'm just sick and tired of these weak-kneed Democrats who won't call it like it is.

I'm sick of these guys trying to be "nice" when the Republicans have made "liberal" into a curse word and they use it all of the time.

Call the issues for what they are.

The Republicans don't just want to kill "Al Qaeda", they want to kill social security, medicare, medicaid, etc.

3. Not just SS
but it looks like they are trying to destroy the United States itself.

4. And the "opposition part" is trying to be politically correct
Obviously, they must not care if he does, or they'd stop playing games and beating "around the Bush".

5. Someone has to say it
I'm sick of it too, I wish Democrats would just say it. Every Republican know that the goal is to get rid of it, but they won't come out and say it. Dems need to say it for them.

6. My question is
When can we all get a retirement system like the one Congress has? If it is good enough for them it should be good enough for all of us.

7. Dorgan just did
Are you actually listening to what they say? Or just listening to what the media says they say? I've heard many of them say they're trying to destroy SS. I've been hearing Democrats say Republicans are trying to turn the clock back to the Gilded Age for a couple of years now. Don't rip up on Democrats because you don't pay attention.

10. They need to say it and stick to it.
It needs to come out of their mouths at least every other sentence when talking about SS

8. Absofuckinglutely. But it ain't gonna happen. At least not
with the message operation currently in place. The pollsters are telling them, "the people loooooove the preznit." The children in charge of the press operation say, "We are very clever. We will tell you how to do judo chess." The consultants say, "Were idiots. But shut up and give us money anyway."

And, as Harry Carrey might have said, "Bush Wins! Bush Wins! Bush Wins!"

9. Um ... Bush Is LOSING On Social Security
Don't let one speech and a hugged semi-Iraqi get to you; from everything I've seen, we're the ones unified on stopping Bush. HE'S the one who had people on HIS side of the aisle hesitant to stand and cheer for the scam.

We still have work to do, but right now there's no way in Hell he passes a bill. The Dems have over 40 nays, and you can bet your ass they'll filibuster the Hell out of any bill - none of which exists anyway.

Just because you don't like the rhetoric doesn't mean rhetoric isn't working.
