7. Thanks for the list, so the senate vote went down based on....
...the following:

Senate Party Affiliation
44 Dem
55 Rep
1 Ind

Yea's = 60
Nay's = 44
No vote= 4

The non-voters were:

Baucus (D-MT), Not Voting
Burns (R-MT), Not Voting
Conrad (D-ND), Not Voting
Inouye (D-HI), Not Voting

The democratic crossovers were:

Landrieu (D-LA), Yea
Lieberman (D-CT), Yea
Nelson (D-FL), Yea
Nelson (D-NE), Yea
Pryor (D-AR), Yea
Salazar (D-CO), Yea

The republican crossovers were:

none

And that is our problem as a party. These senators are put in by democratic constituents, but they do not represent the democratic interests of those constituents. I'm very disappointed in Nelson of Florida. I'm also disappointed that three democrats choose to abstain. The next two years are going to be very scary!

8. Not all Democratic Senators were put in by "democratic constituents"
Many of these Democrats were elected by attracting significant Republican support as well. Both of the Nelsons are from red states and up for reelection next year.

16. Clinton voted "no"?
Yay! Good for her! If she voted yes for that then I would have really been disappointed. I'm glad she didn't vote for him. :D Thank you for this list.

17. He got an earful from me about it
as soon as I got the news I ripped off an email to him. Should be interesting to find out if he answers, as he tends not to answer letters and emails.

10. out of 44 dem senators, their votes = 35 nays, 6 ayes and 3 non voting
the six ayes and the non voting are listed in another post below -- however, it is important to see that only 35 demos could hang together (plus the independent from Vermont)
