AMERICA 2049 - How Long Do You Think The "War On Terror" Will Last?
Edited on Fri Feb-04-05 12:22 PM by DistressedAmerican
Many may object to what I have to say next. But, I was all for going into Afghanistan. In fact, I was and am in favor of more troops there. Quite a few more. This disastrous quagmire in Iraq has taken out eye WAY off the ball and our REAL enemies remain at large. Bush hasn't protected American a day in his miserable life.

So, how long do you think this so called "generational war" will be dragged out by this and future administrations? Will oil interests continue to top our national security interests for the foreseeable future or will the country get a freaking clue and find the folks that attacked us on 9/11? Or do you think both are bullshit?

Don't Give Them A Moment's Rest in '05!

Look deep into your children's dark future. Bush, nuke-u-lure fueled, released with antifreeze in his remaining veins, deep into the mountains of the Afghan/Pakistan border to hunt his nemesis. Meanwhile, Robosama remains at large, running but NEVER hiding!

2. It will last until a Democrat
who is strong enough comes along and changes the frame away from war.

3. It will last as long as a majority of Americans continue to believe
that it is a war.

4. Could you elaborate?
I believe that the military action in both countries are wars. Not connected. But, clearly wars. Maybe you are referring to the connection between the two?

5. My definition of war is when two or more countries enter into
armed conflict with masses of uniformed combatants, fighting over
control of geographic territories.

The United States has suffered several acts of terrorism, carried out by people of undetermined National origin, real purpose and in many cases of unknown identity. These are not acts of war since they are not entered into by National combatants.

Our response should be to (1) determine the perpetrator, (2) capture them , (3) try them in a court of law and (4) try to determine why they did the acts and (5) what steps could be taken to reduce the chances of further incidents. None of these steps meets the definition of war. The term "war" has come to be used too loosely, i.e. the war on poverty, war on all sorts of things.

The fact is that the administration uses the term to keep Americans reved up, afraid and willing to spend 1400 American lives, 250 billion
,150,000 Iraqi lives and a total collapse of world diplomacy while carrying out their plan to get control of middle East oil.

8. Webster's offers up:
1) Armed conflict between nations, tribes, or other groups (as in American Civil war).
2) A concerted effort to put down or reduce or exterminate (as in a war on locusts.
3) A state of hostility without resort to arms (as in the cold war.

Not meant to be a criticism of what you were saying. You just got me thinking is all. I agree the term is far too loosely used as well.

We must do everything we can to end the oil war.

6. The FAKE War on Terra will last until Jenna finishes her 2nd term
That is of course if the Dems keep up with their hugely ineffective strategy of being human punching bags for the right wing in America.
