...most likely to line up behind Bush when his Social Security plan, or a modified version thereof, finally comes up for a vote!

Experts say the plan now offered very likely won't make it, but it is certain that a modified version will indeed come up later on. So let's make our traitor's list now! Who likely will break ranks and be Republican Lite on this issue?

......The lobbying also got personal, as Bush ran through his usual thank-you list to the bigwigs in his audience and singled out the Nebraska Democrat, Sen. Ben Nelson, he was in Omaha to target. Nelson is one of the Democrats who has seemed in public remarks most willing to consider backing Bush on Social Security.

"He is a man with whom I can work," Bush said, "a person who's willing to put partisanship aside to focus on what's right for America."....

.....Nelson said Friday that he wished Bush would have disclosed more details of his plan when he outlined it Wednesday night in his State of the Union address.

"I'm looking to be supportive, but I can't support something until I see the entire plan," Nelson told reporters before the event in Omaha....

5. Tanner's actually a reasonable man

Why don't we start bombarding his office with the many fine links that we have posted here.
Look, the guy just barely won over a freepin' racist in his district, so he's having to hedge his verbage.
However, I think if we get the info to him, he'll be able to justify his vote of HELL NO to Bush's plan to the poor and middle class in his area.
I'll do that tonight when I get home.
(I live in Tennessee, although not in his district. I will also write my congressman, John Duncan Jr., a Republican who voted against the IWR because of the spending involved. He may also be reasonable, for that matter.)

the potential dem defectors can be targeted to be contacted and persuaded, rather than simply to be denounced.

Besides, a lot of times these predictions are wrong. I remember a list on DU of dems that supposedly would fold on Estrada, and it was all wrong.
