Oh yeah, and the max on Pell Grants rises a whoppping $100 a year... :eyes:

Move to raise the maximum Pell Grant for students from $4,050 to $4,550 over five years, or by $100 a year. Along with other changes, Bush's financial aid plan would cost about $28 billion over 10 years.

To help pay for it, the president would shrink subsidies the government pays banks to encourage them to make low-interest loans, and to the agencies that insure the loans for the lenders, education department officials said. He would also phase out Perkins loans, 673,000 of which were made to graduate and undergraduate students last year.

3. Saving social security means dismantling it.
Tax cuts for all Americans means tax cuts preferentially for the wealthy. Notice a trend?

5. Can't you see
that this is another way to try and avoid a Draft? If you cannot get or afford loans for school and want and education, then who is left to help you out? Why the military, of course.

6. Just another way to eliminate the middle class.
Most students with middle income parents are not awarded Pell grants. If you cut these loans you would eliminate the ability of many middle income students from attending 4 year universities. Like me for example.

7. I could have sworn that he cut Pell Grants sometime in the past few years.
Deceitful, lying, double talking republicans. If they offer you an increase--the knife is already in your back....
