I had never heard of Order 39 until today. Typical.
Paul Bremer know's who butters his bread.

ORDER #39
The order on foreign investment in Iraq includes five elements: (1) Privatization of state-owned enterprises; (2) 100 percent foreign ownership of businesses in all sectors except oil and mineral extraction, banks, and insurance companies (the latter two are addressed in a separate order); (3) "national treatment" of foreign firms; (4) unrestricted, tax-flee remittance of all funds associated with the investment, including, but not limited to, profits; and (5) forty-year ownership licenses which have the option of being renewed.

2. I have talked about it, but I think I called it #33
And to end it up he also passed a law saying they could not change this law. I think it is the Bush style of Govt. The King tells you what you can do and here is the law to prove it.

3. One of many bombs for the Iraqis. Another is seeds - they are going
to be the dumping ground for those hybrid seeds that have to be bought every year because they don't reproduce. It will also be illegal to use seeds they have had for thousands of years starting this year.

4. Never saw this either...thanks for posting this.
This shocks me and I don't know why it does. I should know better by now. But, as bad as this administration is, I never figured them to be so damn arrogant, overt, and in-your-face with this kind of stuff. Why hasn't our "liberal" media covered this? <sarcasm off>

I am reminded daily by the actions of this administration of Benito Mussolini's definition of fascism: "Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism as it is a merge of state and corporate power."

I still can't believe people actually voted for *. Are they all brain dead??? We are so f***ed.

6. So how does the government pay for itself, you ask, without
levying some kind of taxes?

Well, us American taxpayers are the ones picking up the bill! That's right, instead of business paying its fair share of taxes on this little invasion, they get all the lucrative, exploitative contracts, and we get to pay for all the expenses.

It's yet another tax cut for the neo-cons. Pay for things with government money whenever possible, especially when it benefits your buddies. If that means letting the Iraqis get off cheap, that's fine too, as long as they'll SELL themselves cheap- to you-know-who.
