Even the revered "John Lennon" attributed the McCartney song "YESTERDAY" as being the one of the best songs Paul had written. Though the "catalogue" of songs which were written during the active "Beatles" times were published by "MACLEN" publishing, there were usually songs which were primarily Paul or John; YESTERDAY was one of them. That is the idea of a "songwriting team"!

I can tell by your post that you may have the tenderness in you heart to forgive my accidental "revisionist" error. It was my error! Neither Paul, nor John were saints, I am certanly not either. It definately seems to be a a very contrite and assuming issue which you have posted.

I just hate that Paul has apparently succeeded in getting people to start reconsidering the order of the songwriting credits in the Lennon-McCartney songbook.

It is lame revisionism, and honestly, it's kind of greedy...after all, John can't continue touring and making money for his kids, so one would think Paul wouldn't gripe about the order and the royalty split.

But he's out there re-mixing Let It Be, changing the order of songwriting credits, and if you've seen the Anthology, he rambles on and on excitedly...it's clear he's the one that wanted to tell the story.

Apparently the irony of not letting Let It Be be is totally lost on him.

I love Paul, and I think he's one of the five best songwriters in human history.

I also think he has a tendency to be a complete tool from time to time, and I'm sure his former bandmates would back me up there.

Edit to note: It might help if I mention that John and Paul had a deal where they would do their songwriting as "Lennon-McCartney." Paul recently decided to change Yesterday's credit in his recent live album taken from his 2002 tour, sparking much controversy in Beatle circles and raising the ire of Yoko.

Paul said it's his song, but Lennon didn't mind giving Paul credit on "I Am The Walrus" or "Revolution." I think it's pretty lame. It's not like John can say anything about it.
