How To Tell A Repug From A Dem
Repugs say "personal" accounts, and Dems say "Private Accounts."
The less the term "personal accounts" is used, the better. To me, it's a point for the bu$h team every time it's said. Just my opinion.

5. Saying Democrat Party instead of Democratic Party is a form of bullying.
And I don't listen to bullies, they have nothing to teach me.

12. In public I call them Republicans by their proper name, I expect the same.
Edited on Mon Feb-07-05 09:21 AM by brainshrub
For the record, I do not usually call Republicans "pukes" or "Nazis" even on DU. In fact, once Bush got another term I try to avoid *, shrub, chimpy and man-child. (Admittedly I sometimes fall off the wagon on this message board.)

Comments made on a conservative or liberal discussion board are allowed to be a bit more provocative. -That's to be expected.- But, if your on a neutral forum and you really want to learn, or teach, something to a Liberal using bad English to describe the Democratic party... that's a big turn off.

Imagine a co-worker coming to you and asking: "What do you think of the new Rethuglican plan to pirateize social security?"

Not only is such a comment would not only be disrespectful to the conservative in question, but it frames the discussion in a combative mode that is not helpful for future conversations.

16.  wish I had your restraint
In public when I don't know someones politics I leave politics out of conversations. You can't judge a book by it's cover as that may be thier game. Here at this site i speak my mind and don't care to think about freepers and lurkers. They post with a gang mentality of who can be most hatefull and never really express how they really feel .

11. A Democrat is "pro-democracy" all the time
Edited on Mon Feb-07-05 08:15 AM by calipendence
where the Rethug only likes to use "democracy" as a thing to "spread" to other countries. They would never get caught talking about making Iraq and other countries "a Republic"! They know that won't win them any points on the international stage.

If you say something to him about saying Bush's domestic policies aren't democratic or aren't what a democracy is about, they'll tell you that that isn't relevant since we live in a Republic, not a Democracy.

We should be using this to our favor. The Democratic Party (as our name indicates) is the only party *truely* for Democratic principles!

I realize that Republic is more of a system (which is the system we live under) and Democracy is more a set of principles, but I think there is some verbage here that can be used in our favor if done correctly, especially when they use "we are a Republic" as a rationale to sway away from the argument that we should try to abide by democratic principles.

13. I would think Dems would not have to resort to such a petty method.
The reasons Dems oppose personal or private accounts has nothing to do with what they are called.
