Bush budget cuts Medicaid by $60 billion; Dem Rep. says it's DOA
Rep. John Spratt (D-SC), ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee, was interviewed on CNBC this morning and was asked what aspect of Bush's budget is DOA.

He said the budget cuts $60 billion from Medicaid -- $15 billion of which is reallocated to other health programs.

It's obvious to me that Bush ran up the deficit so he could have an excuse to cut programs like Medicaid and dismantle the safety net.

11. I wouldn't hold my breath
on them waking up. It has to be a "shock and awe" type of thing for them to ever turn on their leader. Remember: he's a "Christian" man. If he was a Christian he wouldn't be cutting these programs. He'd be trying to help the meek and poor if he was truly a desciple of Christ. What a joke to think he's a Christian. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice- you can't fool me again." :eyes: I also read he's cutting off the programs that help with heating/air for the poor.

2. Hoow many times has this been pointed out
in the last three years.
I thoroughly believe those paragons of imbecility in congress are simply the least informed and the most gullible of Amerikkka! Ga what idiots(with few exceptions.)

3. I swear, if I had the money, every time Bush and the Republicans...
..came out with a drastic Social Program cut, I'd take out full page ads in every Major newspaper across the land, detailing how they were trying to screw the average worker.

I shit you not, by the 2006 elections, Republicans couldn't get elected as dogcatchers.

4. Dems should sit back and let the Repubs tear themselves apart over this...
There is no one left for the Cons to blame but themselves..

12. Makes sense to me
and I think the dems should try to stay out of the media as much as possible. That way the republicans can't blame the democrats for anything. It's all them. Work on what they can.

5. I think most of Bush's plans are DOA.
Even his own fellow Republicans are giving him a hard time about some of his ideas.

Unfortunately, this medicaid one might go through. It needs to be fought.

7. That's the part of all this they don't want the over 55 set to hear
Bait and switch. "We aren't touching the social Security of those over 55" out of one side of their mouth while "we'll just take away your medicare" comes out the other side.

9. Medicare and medicaid are two different things
Medicaid is far more important IMHO. It is for the children and people without anything.

And I'm glad Kerry is doing his "Kids First" plan because maybe he knew this would happen? But either way if his bill goes through (I hope and pray it does) at least if Medicaid gets cut and people get kicked off the kids can be covered. They are the future after all and we can't have them off sick and dying from diseases and illnesses.
Is anybody doing anything for the elderly? Medicine they take can get pretty pricy. My grandfather now is on chemo treatments and shots and if he gets kicked off medicaid then they're screwed.
