Eliot Spitzer = Presidential Material?
The more I see and hear this man, the more I can picture him in the Oval Office.

3. He sounds decent
but we might want him in some other capacity. We wouldn't want to lose him as a fighter. He sounds like a fighter from his website. Is he?

If he is, I wouldn't like to see him moderated for a campaign.

5. I had hoped that if Kerry/Edwards

had gotten in they might have made him AG. My what a different world it would be right now.

BTW, He's been asked to bite into this 911 stuff. Do you think he'll do it??

6. If he can stay untainted
he will be great. Just give him a term or two under his belt as Governor and we'll let the rest of you guys get a taste of him.

7. No
First of all, he doesn't look like a president. He's fugly. Second, he's a liberal Democrat from New York. Oops, make that a liberal Jewish Democrat from New York. Finally, he hasn't even been elected governor yet.

I could certainly imagine him serving as attorney general in a future Democratic administration. But no, there isn't any change he'd ever get elected president. Not in the real world.

10. Hmm...
Was FDR "fugly"? :eyes:

How about Lincoln? Or any of our greatest presidents?

13. Lincoln couldn't get elected president in the television age
Even FDR would have had problems, although not because of his looks (Eleanor was fugly, FDR wasn't -- at least not when he was first elected). The wheelchair would have been a problem.

Again, I'm talking about the real world. And in the real world of today, an ugly person can't get elected president.

14. Good point.
*sigh*

But I can still hope. :) And at this point, that's all I, or any of us, have.

8. I was impressed with him, too.

I must confess to having some skepticism before the C-SPAN speech. My thoughts were of an aggressive, slick lawyer. But Spitzer came out and talked about issues of disclosure, of fairness, and focused, most importantly, on the people behind the issues. I really did think, "It's possible I'm listening to the first Jewish president of the United States."

What I worry about is that corporate America will be gunning for this guy. They have a lot of money and nearly endless clout, thanks to Bush's reign of sin, secrecy and depravity. It's going to be an uphill battle, no matter what.

But I did feel inspired, and no one's going to rob me of hope.

9. A resounding "yes"!
But then again, he's highly intelligent, well-spoken, and from New York--how will that go over with the Smirk-voting masses? Four more years of disastrous economic policies, however, the country may be clamoring for a Spitzer. Well, all but that cognitively dissonant 33%.

12. Probably at sometime
I have heard good things about him recently, but until recently I had never heard of him. I live in Iowa and didn't know who he was until he announced he was runnning for office in NY. I am more politically knowledgable than a lot of people out there, so I think it is safe to say that a large majority of people in the country do not know who he is. Once he gets name recognition then he could be on a ticket with Barak Obama, in say, 12 years or so.

16. I liked what I saw...
He has really made a good name for himself going after these corps that are screwing normal people. I could see him as a VP nomination in the future (hopefully 2016!) or as an AG in the next administration. He has done a solid job & even managed to piss off Neil "big head" Cavuto at Faux news.
