What if Deep Throat was Gerald Ford?

I know it is unlikely but would the fact that he gained immensely from Nixon's resignation change your opinion of the act of turning Nixon in?

1. It wasn't Ford

Ford was just a rather unaccomlished congressman from Michigan when all this happened. Deep Throat worked for the executive branch, according to Woodward.

...it does not compute. They really are two different worlds. From the outside, it looks like the same cesspool, but in reality, it's two distinct cesspools, with one bleeding over into the other on occasion. It all stinks the same, but it's different feces!

It was recently reported that deep throat is on his death bed and will be revealed soon in their obituary, which is why Ford makes sense (despite locale on hill as oppossed to white house).

6. Ford was in the House, not the White House

I still think it's Buchanan or Gergen -- got to be someone in the media. IMHO.

regarding his work on the Warren Commission, not so much Watergate. I've often wondered why Nixon picked him as Veep though.

10. I don't know where Gerald Ford is but he didn't attend the

opening of the Clinton Library or the Crowning of the Chimp - the only living president not in attendance - he was too ill.

That said, I don't think Ford is Throat - too much distance between the hill and the WH.

Doesn't if feel odd, I don't want anyone to die but can't wait to find out who Deep Throat is - one of the great mysteries of the 20th century. Think you had to be old enough to appreciate the drama and tragedy of the Nixon years to understand what a hero DT is to a lot of people.

Just wish we had another Deep Throat in the WH right now - we truly need a hero to step up to the plate.

11. I heard his daughter on the radio today

she said he didn't attend those events because of the weather, on his doctor's advice. She pointed out he's 91 years old, but in good health.
