Is the REAL agenda behind SS reform to eliminate employer payroll tax?
*'s handlers and the people who develop and market his extreme right-wing agenda items have been very clever and very deceptive in the past. It is reasonable to suspect that anything that comes out of the WH is either outright lies, half-truths, or worse, a glitzy distraction to pull attention away from the real agenda. This is done in the same manner as a stage magician. By misdirecting attention, he is able to perform his tricks and nobody sees what is really going on.

I am now wondering if the REAL agenda behind Social Security reform/privatization is to eliminate the payroll tax burden on employees, who currently are forced to pay matching amounts to Social Security for all of their employees. This is a major cost of business, and if it could be eliminated, that would be an instant boost to profits of all companies. It would immediately drop cash to the bottom line. It would also shift the burden of Social Security from 50/50 companies/workers to 100% workers.

That sounds like something * would like very much to do.

3. That is a huge part of it, yes.
But it is also a successful and efficient government program--therefore to the right it has to go. They cannot afford to have that obvious success belying their "philosophy" that government can't do anything good for people. You know, only the private sector can do that.

4. Maybe, but the real agenda is to eliminate SS completely!
The Pubs have hated this program since it started, and many have tried to get rid of it. Each who tried failed, and I'm hoping the people are smart enough to smack this one down too!

6. This is also being floated around, concerning healthcare
This is from a policy paper distributed on January 17th from the National Center for Policy Analysis. www.ncpa.org

Health Insurance and the Minimum Wage

"Employer-provided health insurance is a
substitute for money wages. One study concludes that
in most cases the trade-off is dollar for dollar. As a
result, a higher minimum wage encourages employers
to drop health coverage along with other fringe benefits.
To avoid this socially undesirable outcome,
employers should be able to count health insurance
contributions toward the minimum wage."

Isn't that special? These people are truly insane.
