Does anyone think the reason Dean is so ridiculed is because he dared to
question what Bush knew about 9/11?

When he was on the Diane Rehm show in December 2003, Dean suggested that Bush might have gotten warning from the Saudis about 9/11.

Not too long after that, the media went bezerk on Dean and he went down in flames.

Anyone else think there's a connection here?

1. Yes, most definitely there is a connection.
And it is a dark and ugly one too -- by my gut instinct and based upon the reading I've done on the subject. You open up that scab, you'll be sure to uncover a lot of oozing pus!

2. It was also December 2003 when the Hardball thing happened.
When Tweety pinned him down about the media. Again, he was honest about wanting to re-regulate it, so this was all about the same time.

Also in December was the Saddam statement: "The world is no safer..."

And guess what, the world is definitely no safer.

3. No, I think it was other stuff
I think it was attacking the media, combined with Gore's endorsement and the panic of his primary opponents that created the Perfect Storm that took him down. The media played that misleading "scream" BS within weeks after he attacked the big media mergers. The attacks from his primary opponents, without the scream, he probably would have survived. The scream, without the primary attacks, he probably would have survived. But they combined into the Perfect Storm and he was history.

4. He's also a smart charismatic outsider, like Clinton. Too many
Democrats don't want to rock the boat. They have a secure district and they're afraid to fight. They think they'll end up like Daschle.

5. Dean Threatened to Break Up the Media Corporations!
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 11:29 AM by AndyTiedye
After that, it was all-out war. I am sure the media is not yet done trashing Howard Dean.

10. The worth of a man is
measured not by the number of his friends, but by the strength of his enemies (I forget who said it first). All the opposition to Dean makes him a very very valuable member of American society.

6. My thought was that the media built him up intending he be the nominee,

just to tear him down closer to the actual primary, so he would go into the nomination already wounded. Remember, even on the day of the first primary, all the pundits still predicted Dean would win it. Because that is how they saw it unfolding.

The media kept calling Kerry dead in the water for months which dried up his donations. Kerry never stopped despite their efforts and kept laying the groundwork necessary in Iowa to push through.

First and formost, the media will always work to divide the left to help keep their corporate masters happy and keep BushInc in power.

Simple as that.

8. BTW, Dean never said that Bush knew about 9/11...
he said there were rumors to that effect, but the Republicans insist to this day that he said he thought that was true, and they continue to smear him with it.

9. The up side is that it keeps the rumors alive if they keep
smearing him with it, so it's a double edged sword.
