1. From the article:
WASHINGTON (AP) - Shy and retiring aren't terms that spring to mind to describe Sen. Charles Schumer and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, new political point men for out-of-power congressional Democrats.

Try aggressive or combative.

By his own account, Emanuel asked President Clinton to butt out when the chief executive walked into the religious study sessions the one-time White House aide held with his rabbi.

And Schumer?

Democratic Sen. Jon Corzine of New Jersey once joked to an audience of journalists that the most dangerous ground in Washington was between the New York senator and a television camera. And he wasn't the first member of Congress to say so.

3. and the death penalty!
He showed separation from party liberals in his first statewide campaign by emphasizing support for stronger anti-crime measures, including a broader death penalty. He hastens to point out that he won 61 of 62 New York counties in his re-election campaign last fall.

Good DEM!

4. You've got your facts wrong.

Schumer voted against Gonzales (and he ain't pandering for votes in 2008).

Schumer voted against all of Bush's most hardcore judicial nominees.

It's time to stop slamming fellow Democrats at every turn for any reason.

He's a tireless advocate for gay rights.

He's blasting Bush's new budget.

He's staunchly pro-choice.

Schumer wants to register gun-owners.

More so than Mayor Jason West? How did he show his support for gays in New Paltz?

(I'm in a bad mood, so I really appologize to all DU'ers. This isn't the place to bash Chuck and Hill... I'm sorry).

12. Yes, some people like bashing Democrats
It's a broken record. I hope we can get beyond this in the next four years or else
we will never win another Congressional seat in red/purple states again.

7. What you wrote is not true.
They are both far to the right of me, but, your statement:

Since 2000, Chuck n Hill have backed the GOP 100%.

is false.

Schumer: http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=H2661103

Clinton: http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=WNY99268

I thought that they supported the Iraq war, the patriot act, NCLB (no child left behind), HAVA (help America vote).
My original post was wrong- Hillary and Chuck have been vanguards against the right wing.

Go get em! Bring the fight to the GOP!

20. Just to mention a few examples of Schumer's record:
Supports civil unions'
supports filibusters of right-wing judges
Supports adding sexual orientation to hate crimes
Opposed Bush energy policy
Opposed drilling in ANWAR
Opposed making late-term abortion illegal
Supports expanded stem-cell research

NARAL (abortion rights).....100%
Christian Coalition rating....0%
SANE (anti-war lobby).......100%
ARA (senior citizens lobby)..90%
NEA (education).............100%

And people here routinely trash this man for not being liberal enough. Its sickening. Why the desire to tear down the people we should be supporting? Evidently its become cool on DU to trash all Democratic officeholders. You can cherry-pick a few votes from anyones record and make them out to be a total asshole but its totally innaccurate and unfair...

Believe me, Republicans are all to happy to lie about Democrats records-they don't need us to do their dirty work for them.

24. It doesn't look promising, from that article, at least, that
Dean will be able to regain a majority in either house. I would almost certainly bet on a pick-up, though, in the House, at least.

Remember- we're starting LOCAL. LONG-TERM. We're thinking long-term. Watch your state representatives. THAT is the key.
