Six Democrats vote to endorse "waterboard" torture.
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 07:33 PM by genius
Original report said these six senators voted for Chertoff and that Levin voted "present." But I just looked at subsequent reports and some indicate six voted "Present," meaning the original report got it wrong. Yet there is another claimin 14-0 for Chertoff. So I looked it up on Thomas and found the chairman's statement which confirmed the earlier reports. The one who voted present would have been Levin.

SENATOR COLLINS’ STATEMENT ON COMMITTEE CONFIRMATION OF MICHAEL CHERTOFF TO BE DHS SECRETARY
Committee gives unanimous approval; Senate expected to vote this week

Washington, DC – The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, of which Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) is the Chairman, today gave unanimous approval, with one member voting “present,” of the nomination of Judge Michael Chertoff to become the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Committee has jurisdiction over DHS and was required to approve the President’s nominee in order to send the nomination to the full Senate for confirmation. The Committee held a hearing on Judge Chertoff’s nomination last Wednesday, February 2nd. The Senate is expected to vote on the nomination before the end of the week.

________
The following therefore were the six who think there's nothing wrong with "water-board" torture.

Joseph I. Lieberman Ranking Member (D-CT)

Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI)

Thomas R. Carper (D-DE)

Mark Dayton (D-MN)

Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)

Mark Pryor (D-AR)

Here, they also voted to put a Whitewater witchhunter (Michael Chertoff)tied to the finacing of 9/11 in charge of financing the next terrorist attack- something he can now do with U.S. taxpayers dollars. Will your tax dollars pay for the deaths of your neighbors?

We need to revoke their immunity for this. They should be sued for their votes.

This one claims 14-0 for Chertoff but it's Fox It's consistent with the first one I saw because that one said 14 for and 1 present. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,146683,00.html

7. I'm a sick bastard and wonder what water-boarding feels like
Are there detailed instructions so my wife can try it on me without killing me?

I've always had a phobia about drowning, and I wonder if this might help me over come it.

The same way I've worked through some of my acrophobia by hanging lights for the theater club in high school and climbing rock walls.

9. Don't try it!
Haven't you heard about all of those deaths from when people engaging in those odd sex acts where they cut off oxygen to the brain, the person passes out and then wakes up or DIES?

This is the same type of thing, cutting off oxygen is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!

11. So are SCUBA diving and down-hill skiing.

I'm not talking about a sex-act.

I'm talking about a counter-phobic "conquer-your-fears" exercise.

Not that I have anything against "odd sex acts."

10. They are sadists without a shred of humanity...
Anybody who condones water board torture really needs to have his or her head examined. Those Dems aren't fit for office.
