What makes a man with the values, instincts, and reflexes like those of President Bush? The press has chronicled some of his life’s dramatic events. But the character that we see revealed in times of crisis was there already. It had already been formed slowly by more mundane influences and many decisions small and large. The example set by his parents. His wife’s influence. The call of Christ to a new life.

How can we both be looking at the very same man, and they see the best president ever, and we see the worst president ever.

I think of this when folks say "How could Kerry not defeat the worst president ever." Because not everyone thinks he's the worst president ever. Two or three people I know think he'll turn out to be the greatest president we ever had.

My question is, how many delusional lunatics are there, really. I've seen way too many here in the suburbs of Wisconsin. I met some good people on the opposite side, people I could at least have a conversation with, but some real nutjobs I didn't even know I lived around. This entire post talks about bush's image, not his actions. That is what is getting the response from the people who hate the shrub's actions.

The question is how do we stop this from happening again? How do we halt the media's ability to define bush as a moral voice of amurka and Kerry as a flip-flopping liberal who may or may not have lied about his service? If we can answer that, we have the next election in the bag.
