The new Democratic Party: Vice Chair candidate posting at Kos and MyDD.
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 12:41 AM by madfloridian
Susie Turnbull is running for Vice Chair, and she has posted today at MyDD and at Kos.

I absolutely love this type of campaigning. Both Fowler and Rosenberg posted at times, and it really opens up the party.

Here is the thread from Kos. She sounds very open to new ideas.

"Susan Turnbull, a candidate for DNC Vice Chair and a friend of mine, has asked me to cross-post this MyDD post by her . She does not have diary posting privileges at Daily Kos yet. This is a great opportunity for us to tell the party our ideas, so please recommend this diary.
Hello, my name is Susie Turnbull. I'm running for DNC Vice Chair, and I am a Democrat through and through.

I know that netroots support and enthusiasm is essential to our party's success in the twenty-first century. The DNC has a tremendous opportunity to make use of this resource in order to put the Democratic Party back on the path to victory. Online support should be valuable to the party not only for party fundraising efforts, but as a source of ideas...."

And this is very good:
"What do Vice Chairs Do? (4.00 / 3)

I think Howard Dean is committed to giving specific responsibilities to the different Vice Chairs. In the past ( about 12 years ago) there were specific roles. That hasn't been the case for years. I hope to be involved as another set of eyes and ears for Gov. Dean and to have a specific roles with Women's outreach.

6. There are 5 Vice Chairs
Including the Chair, the 6 seats have to be evenly divided between males and females so there will be 3 female Vice Chairs.

3. I think the chair picks a director.
Not really sure. I have heard much about Rosenberg being a possibility. He and Dean are friends. He sort of defended Dean from the DLC...at least a little. I am not fond of his pro-war stances, but he is good at what he does.

4. If you see the chair's job as mostly organizing, he will be valuable
He has experience and skills. His job as vice chair, or Dean's job as Chair, won't be as spokesperson but modernizer/organizer if Kerry is right about what the chair's role in the party is.

5. Dean as chair will often be the spokesman.
Like Mehlman for the GOP. He has said he will travel to the states for fundraisers, but he will also be a voice for the party. Many of the bloggers have supported Dean hoping Rosenberg would be a fellow strategist.
