The "starving of the beast" by cutting taxes with the plan to have to cut services has been a conservative goal for more than a decade. It has taken a while for their plan to reach the frightening level it is now, and I think it will have to get worse (quite a bit worse) before our society will truly see what we have created and demand a more humane civil society.
