2. Why wouldn't they?
If I were some rogue nation state that Bush had specificly targetted, I would be racing towards nuclear capability with reckless abandon. It's obvious that he will invade a nation even if they DO comply (Iraq), so the only defense is to threaten him with actual, usable nuclear weapons. His policies have actually INCREASED the desire for other nations to develop nuclear weaponry.

And if I'm Japan I certainly build some nukes of my own even if it means amending my Constitution...

What an unpleasant cascade of events Bush* has allowed to happen...

6. Iranians or those I've talked to
like Americans in general. Iran poses a Nuclear threat to the US (or Israel) only to the extent that the US poses a threat to Iran. Iran is going for MAD not war.

7. actually it all started on Clinton's watch
but, in case you think I am parroting a Freeper perspective, I would also point out that Jimmy Carter was also part of the dialogue and at least we were in good relations with NK and able to have a constructive dialogue with them.
Bush is an idiot and a danger to mankind, and he has let this fester dangerously for more than 2 years.

Read Carter's wise words right here:
