Caller on Bernie Ward's show last night: "What if Bush IS the AntiChrist"
I couldn't believe it.

Granted, it's a topic that comes up frequently on DU, and hey...who can offer proof that he's NOT?

The thing that struck me wasn't the question, it was the fact that the caller was calm, articulate, and asked a question that seemed entirely legitimate. He said "George Bush's Christianity is like nothing I've ever seen or experienced"...and that's been my complaint all along. I don't think Christians should have to be associated with or judged by an "association" with George W. Bush...unless, of course, they WANT to. The Jerry Falwell crowd sees him as God's Little Chosen Prince. Many, many MANY Christians DO NOT.

I feel that Bernie Ward, Guy James, and Ray Taliaferro are at the forefront of the "WTF" school of Bush Administration criticism. All three question not only the empire of the Boy King but the fact that Americans are LETTING...HIM...GET...AWAY...WITH...ALL...OF...IT.

Air America, for me, is hit and miss. Some times they hit it dead on, other times it's like tuning into loud and screechy slacker kids who have had too much sugar. But I applaud them for making the effort.

So, Bernie, Ray, and Guy: I salute you.

2. Well, he's got the brainwashed devotees thing down pat
plus the ones who recognize and accept his lies and arrogance, just because "he ain't a Democrat".

3. Consider the false prophets..
Falwell, Dobsen, Robertson, the Christian Reich in general...

Hey for conversation sake only, I am more or less an agnostic, but, if you believe in the antichrist, the armageddon, the Rapture, Jihad, Revelations, whatever, take a look around thee....

4. A friend of mine was telling me about a friend of his who fell in line
like this. It was a guy he grew up with, who still lives in Texas. My friend moved away from there a long time ago - they used to be next-door neighbors as kids and VERY close friends. My friend was describing their last conversation, wherein his buddy SERIOUSLY, TRULY, SINCERELY BELIEVED that bush was Jesus Christ. WITHOUT QUESTION. I know, it's something I have great difficulty wrapping my mind around, but for this guy, it was in his bone marrow. My friend was aghast at this, too. My friend then further explained, from his conversation with this guy, that this is why they indeed DO NOT question anything bush says or does. He's the Second Coming, after all, so you don't dare. He has the Divine authority, so you just DO NOT question. You don't question The Lord. You're supposed to say "Amen," and you do.

Yes, it's simply dumb-founding. But this sentiment absolutely is alive and well and out there in the hearts of far too many trusting, gullible, superstitious, scared, and desperate people. Out there, indeed. And I don't know what makes me sadder - the fact that there are these people who fervently cling to this belief, or that there's a jackass in Washington (and friends) who won't hesitate to exploit this.

6. I Agree...
I listen to both Bernie and Ray every night. Both have a way of hitting the nail on the head...they are PISSED and they have no problem expressing it.
