Special Report: Mr. Obama Goes To Washington
<Regardless of his lack of experience, Obama is a rising star who is quickly getting his feet wet, Saunders reported.

"This is a great honor, it really is," Obama said. "You have the opportunity to be at the heart of the country, and seeing all the complexity of it and the diversity of it, and it all intersects and comes together under this dome."

The smiles do not come as easily as they did on the campaign trail, and the once sought-after cameras can be a frustration at times, but Obama's idealism and belief in public office is not waning, Saunders reported.

"For all the problems that we talk about in our politics ... I was at the inauguration sitting out there in the cold listening to a president that I didn't vote for still just profoundly proud of this country," Obama said.

"My heroes are people like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, people who in the face of great difficulty and uncertainty were still able to act and reframe the debate ... try to get people to think about their connections to others in ways that expand our humanity," Obama said.
