20 minutes ago U.S. National - AP

By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The public's confidence in President Bush (news - web sites)'s job performance and the nation's direction has slipped in the opening weeks of his second term, particularly among people 50 and older, according to an Associated Press poll.

Adults were evenly divided on Bush's job performance in January, but now 54 percent disapprove and 45 percent approve. The number who think the country is headed down the wrong track increased from 51 percent to 58 percent in the past month.

3. So much for Gallup
Many, many years ago, the Gallup and the Harris polls were the most reliable.

It's sad to see the Gallup poll sink to this level.

5. HE IS MORE POPULAR!!!
He is protecting the rich against those evil poor people! And did you not see the dancing Iraqis? Yes we have dancing Iraqis! It may take an untold number of lives and untold billions, and even the farce of freedom...But please please, remember the dancing Iraqis, because that, my friend, is what freedom is all about!

9. More Republicans
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 09:11 AM by erpowers
The gallup poll had more Republicans than Democrats. You can go to the website for Emerging Democratic Majority to find information on the poll. Mainly, the poll was made up of about 38% Republicans, about 35% Independents, and about 28% Democrats. Just in case you were wondering about the name of the article it is "GOP Clones Drive Bush Approval Surge."

10. Gallup lied, because they have a pro-Repub bias, and in other news
the sky is blue! Did you know that? We're full of surprised today! First, they tell me Gallup lied to make Bush look better, and then they tell me that the sky is blue! Amazing! Next thing you know, they'll tell me that Bush is spending hundreds of billions of dollars we don't have on wars while giving trillions of dollars away in tax cuts to billionaires, thus putting us in a huge debt from which we can't crawl out.

12. I was just going to post this...45% approval rating, Will CNN whore this?
They couldn't report the results of the Gallup poll often enough. Will they report the results of the AP's poll multiple times an hour with analysis from various pollsters and talking heads? Media Matters should be all over CNN today monitoring what is (and isn't) said. By the way, I love how an article that shows a 45% job approval rating still tries to find positives for the Bush Administration. It's amazing how corrupt the media has become.

13. only 38% approve of Bush's job & 58% DO NOT according to AP/Ipsos poll
MSNBC just reported this poll taken for the Associated Press by Ipsos on Feb 10th. They also said that the numbers for the Chimp are down in most other categories, too.........unlike what the crooks at Gallup tried to ram down our throats!

14. What's the breakdown of political party affiliation?
The previous poll was skewed toward the Republicans. Gee...imagine that.
