RE: Bush 54% disapproval rating.
Can we confirm this?

Or has this number not been "adjusted" yet?

2. Are other polls pointing in the same direction?
I stopped looking at polls about a week before 2 November.

3. I still don't know whether to laugh or go apeshit.
This is so pathetic it's funny and yet it indicates that there are some real tards in this country.

4. Probably an outlier if true
Most other polls have him at 50, so I'm looking at that as being most probable.

On the other end, Gallup's a clear outlier in the other direction. No way he has a 57% approval rating.

5. Let's assume what is likely the case then...
a 50/50 split.

I hope this poll is right. But I've learned not to trust the damned things...

(aside) Wasn't it great when Kerry won 319 electoral votes?

7. I believe Gallup polled 10% more Reps than Dems
that would explain the shift

9. Those Gallup figures are "correct",
but they were achieved by "weighting" the polled population. By my recollection, they polled several percent MORE Reptilicans than Democrats, with Independents falling in between the two. I'm not profesionally qualified to fault their methodology, but I DO have a keen sense of smell. You have to study the fine print to learn about the weighting. That STINKS.

6. I'm with Al Franken on this one when he said:
"Where were these people on election day?"

Me: (Maybe their votes weren't counted.)

8. Link to AP poll. Yes, 54% disapproval. Wrong track up 7 to 58%.

Poll shows drop in Bush's job approval
WASHINGTON (AP) — The public's confidence in President Bush's job performance and the nation's direction has slipped in the opening weeks of his second term, particularly among people 50 and older, according to an Associated Press poll.

Adults were evenly divided on Bush's job performance in January, but now 54% disapprove and 45% approve. The number who think the country is headed down the wrong track increased from 51% to 58% in the past month.

<>Just over four in 10, 42%, said they approved of the president's handling of Iraq, while 57% disapproved.

<>The poll of 1,000 adults was taken Feb. 7-9 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
