Bush's favorable ratings down 6 points in 6 days
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 05:16 PM by imenja
The latest ratings on Bush from Rasmussen Reports: 48% of Americans approve of his job performance. He's dropped six points in as many days. The temporary bounce from the Iraqi elections seems to have been just that, temporary.

(If you hate polls, simply don't read this. I post these periodic updates for those who happen to be interested. If you're not, that's cool, but don't hassle me over it).

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

"Friday February 11, 2005--Forty-eight percent (48%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

Eighty-two percent (82%) of Republicans give the President their Approval. They are joined by 20% of Democrats and 40% of unaffiliated voters.

Republicans and Democrats also have entirely different views on the state of the economy.

This report is based upon a survey of American adults. During 2004, reports on the President Job Approval were based upon surveys of Likely Voters. Typically, a survey of Likely Voters would report a Job Approval rating 2-3 points higher than a survey of all adults."

1. So by the end of March we can impeach?
Of course I'm kidding. I have to say though...I'm a bit concerned about those 20% of Democrats. What the hell are they thinking?

3. If this trend continues, would be good to see breakdown of Dems vs Repubs
When will the Repubs finally realize the truth about Der Blivet**-Fuehrer?

4. Somehow I doubt it
The war, revelations about WMD, and Abu Ghraib didn't dissuade them from supporting Bush. I suppose it depends on how bad things get. Will another war in Iran or fiscal bankruptcy be enough to make Republicans turn on Bush? I don't know.

:PThis is good news..cause these polls seem to be reflecting what's going on ..especially with bush out there on the 3rd rail.

8. Yeah but we're stuck with him until 2009
All the polls in the world won't change the fact that he's got his second term. We had our chance in November and fell short.

And forget about impeachment, people. It's nothing more than a pipedream; the GOP Congress would never impeach this guy under any circumstances.

9. No, but it makes
opposition somewhat easier for the Congress.

10. 2006 mid-term elections
I know, but I'm interested in how public opinion changes and in response to which events. A low approval rating for Bush can help us in one key respect: if he continues to drop in popularity, the Democrats have a greater chance of gaining seats in 2006.
AP has a poll that rates Bush at only 45%. Keith Olbermann reported it.

17. 2006 doesn't mean shit
if we don't get the voting machine problem fixed.

We may pick up a few seats, but we won't be doing much of anything until we see a paper trail.

11. Would low poll #'s mean more war sooner?
Since as we all know from the first term his poll numbers took a big jump under some "glorious war event".

14. he doesn't need to worry about poll numbers
since he's not facing another election. The Republican congress, on the other hand, do have to worry.
I tend to think an invasion of Iran would be based on ideology rather than polls.
