Nominate someone "out of the box" for 2008 pres. candidate
Listening to Air American today, it was my understanding that both Rob Reiner and Al Franken might someday consider running for office. Who might you suggest for possible future presidential candidates other than the usual suspects?

Half the population would automatically vote for her like brain dead zombies.

You know it's true.

...the brain-dead men versus the brain-dead women would cancel each other out, I'd hope.

Boxes are square, so I am sorry, but SpongeBob Squarepants would not work since SpongeBob's pants resemble a box.

8. If I were president I would do the following:
1. Immediately arrest for treason all of Bushco and send them to Guantanamo with no lawyers.
2. Freeze the republican financial assets - every last time.
3. Start a pull back in Iraq with the intent of a pull out in months.
4. Stop the 14 bases in Iraq and throw out Halliburton and all the other thieves - stop payment on their checks until an investigation was done.
5. Bring back the special prosecutor and have them start investigating everything from the 2000 election forward. Someone like, Howard Dean, Jesse Jackson, Pupkin, somneone anti bush.
6. Have a long talk with the Hague about how many places these creeps can be tried for war crimes.
7. Take back the taxes, allow US citizens to get drugs from Canada.

Anyone want to vote for me???

25. Condaleeza Rice's cousin
other than the name, she is nothing like Condi Rice.

<Constance Rice, co-director of The Advancement Project, is known for her success in tackling problems of inequity and exclusion. She has received more than 50 major awards for her work in expanding opportunity and advancing multi-racial democracy.

Rice graduated from Harvard College in 1978. She won the Root Tilden Public Interest Scholarship to New York university School of Law, where she earned her law degree in 1984. After law school, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Damon J. Keith, judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and worked at Morrison & Foerster as a litigation associate. In 1991, she joined the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and became co-director of LDF’s Los Angeles Office in 1996.

As a litigator, Rice has filed class action civil rights cases redressing police misconduct, race and sex discrimination and unfair public policy in transportation, probation and public housing. She filed a landmark case on behalf of low-income bus riders that resulted in a mandate that more than 2 billion dollars be spent to improve the bus system. And in 1999, Rice launched a coalition lawsuit that won $750 million for new school construction in Los Angeles - money previously slated for less crowded, more affluent suburban school districts. In these and other cases, Rice has led multi-racial coalitions of lawyers and clients to win more than $4 billion worth of injunctive relief and damages.

In her non-litigation work in the 1990s, Rice served as counsel to the Watts gang truce and spearheaded a statewide campaign to save equal opportunity programs. Mayors Tom Bradley and Richard Riordan appointed Rice to the governing board of Los Angeles’ Department of Water and Power where she served as president and enacted contracting reforms and environmental advances. In 1998, Rice helped lead a successful campaign to place aggressive public school reformers on the governing board for Los Angeles’ public schools.

In 1998, the LOS ANGELES TIMES designated her one of 24 leaders considered the "most experienced, civic-minded and thoughtful people on the subject of Los Angeles." And in October 2000, CALIFORNIA LAWBUSINESS named her, along with Governor Gray Davis and Warren Christopher, as one of California’s top 10 most influential lawyers. In May 2003, Rice received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Occidental College.

Rice is a co-founder of The Advancement Project, a public policy and legal action group that supports organizations working to end community problems and address racial, class and other barriers to opportunity. >

76. I meant it to be serious . . . I think he'd be a great candidate . . .
and a great president . . . someone with real compassion in the White House would be a novel happening after eight years of "compassionate conservatism" (which has always been a pseudonym for eugenics) . . . I think Redford would be great, but he'd have to start setting the stage now if he were to make a run . . . someone needs to talk to him . . .

and just as an aside . . . if he appointed Paul Newman to some post or other, our nation would be in the hands of Butch and Sundance . . . or Henry Gondorff and Johnny Hooker from "The Sting," if you prefer . . . :)

if the nominee keeps thinking, talking and campaigning outside the box, he/she will not be elected - because he/she will be ignored and/or mocked by the mainstream media, because the msm has in one way or another been coerced into doing so by the corporatist global elite.

All people of integrity who have proven themselves to have the one qualification missing in recent the past two Dem candidates - a backbone!

75. So at this point,
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 12:21 PM by tinfoilinfor2005
eliminating dead people, cartoon characters, newborn babies and "the usual nominated politicians," here's who we have:

Oprah, Stern, Clooney, Jon Stewart, Florida Pat, Tom Hanks, Bill Moyers, Jerry Springer, Gore Vidal, RFK, Gomer Pyle, John Corzine, Condoleeza Rice' cousin, Jeff Gannon, Don Francisco, Mike Hunt, Wm. Cohen, Ron Paul, Ron Reagan, John Perkins, Robert Redford. (probably missed somebody here)

I like Stewart, Hanks, RFK, Ron Reagan, Redford. I'll go for anyone of these, add Boxer as VP, and I think we have a winning ticket.

(I wrote this before the last six or seven entries...my apologies for eliminating these folks...all except for Castro!!)

or Stewart/Olbermann. Hell, I'm not picky - it would be the snarkiest ticket on record!

81. Bill Moyers is THE Man to Lead Democracy's rescue
Bill Moyers has immense amounts of credibility. He is definately a power broker for the thinkin' crowd.

He has government experience- believe he served as press secretary for Kennedy.

He is a fair, reasonable and articulate with impeccable credentials in ethical journalism.

His recent editorials are MUST READS!

With his journalism skills he can lead a cleanout and renewal of compromised media credibility.

He is a uniter and understand and embodies the good principles of America's historical purpose and potential.

Since america is sick the VP would be Helen Caldicott, a tough doctor who could put tricky Arnold in his place.

If Sen. Hatch lets non citizens be eligible, will see what might hatch- we need Dr.Caldicott.

Our actions reverberate globally so why not tap effective foreign leaders who have dealt with stages such as we now are going through ?

in fact last summer after the dem primary season cooled down and lost that excitement of daily being a part of creating a new political reality and joining in the advancing tide of hUman Unity to midwife the birthing of new potential futures , when this cooled and Top-down Reality Control became pervasive again, suggested in desperation "HEY lets go with ...

Mikhail Gorbachev!
