2. I liked Dennis
But I thought Dean would appeal to more of the party. Either would have been a better choice than Kerry in my opinion......and Kerry was a Way better choice than the lying sack of dirt we have in there now.

14. Funny story about Gary Hart......
I live in Denver and was on our 16 mall which is a closed(to traffic) street/mall in D/T Denver. I was drinking a Starbucks outside one beautiful day and turned to my left and there was Gary Hart with some other man I didn't recognize. It was right after he decided NOT to run and I introduced myself.shook his hand and ask WHY he decided NOT to run...and he said that after being gone so long he didn't realize HOW UGLY it had become. I said I understood and went back to my seat. When I walked away they were still sitting there, when I looked back.....and Gary Hart was wearing (legs crossed) ONE NAVY SOCK & ONE BLACK ONE! See the greats still put there socks on one at a time!

8. Yes, I got to spend about an hour with him
I was running for Congress last year, and was in Washington trying to drum up suport for my campaign. I was running in Florida, but I'm originally from Cleveland, and Dennis was my congressman when I lived there.

After we talked for about an hour, he graciously offered to come down and campaign for me, if I got through the primaries. (I didn't)

But 2 weeks ago, my wife's brother died, a Cleveland Policeman, at 53 years old, from a heart attack. My wife called to tell me that Dennis showed up at the wake, early, when nobody else was there, said a quick, private prayer, and left.

I'll be sending a thank you letter for a lot of things this week.

9. Yes, a couple times
I've been lucky enough to meet DK a couple times. I met him at the Ohio Holiday Party when I was volunteering for Kerry. He was a perfect gentleman who came over to our table, shook my hand, and wished me luck.

I was an Ohio delegate to the Dem. Convention and spoke to him a few minutes. That was one of the great things about the Convention-- the nobody delegates sat in the same little sections with people like DK, John Glenn, and the other famous delegates.

16. yes - he's the rare politician who actually says what he believes
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 05:03 AM by briang5000
Dennis is my congressman in Ohio.
I volunteered in his campaign. He has helped with my union. He's been to my place of employment. He was one of the few who voted against the war in Iraq. He said all along not to go it alone and that the inspectors needed more time. He knew all along the WMD was a bunch of Bullsh*t.

I've shaken his hand and spoken to him on a couple of occasions. I've also had an opportunity to see him give a speech in person 3 times. He's a great public speaker.

One of the most interesting things I did was walk a parade route with Dennis here in my town. It was amazing to see how he could instantly connect with so many people. Each person he greeted was treated with kindness and sincerity. It was a hot july day. Dennis could have rode in a car with A/C, but chose to take off his jacket & dress shirt and walk the route shaking hands with as many people as he could.

I wish more politicians had the courage to really say what they feel.

17. First time when I was a little girl and he was at a children's home
that was being run by my aunt/nun at the time.

Over a decade later, when I was in high school, I volunteered in his first primary campaign for congress.

Dennis Kucinich has been my political role model for most of my adult life. Except, for a while there, I was way more liberal than he was. It took him some time to catch up....heh.

19. Didn't actually shake his hand
but I did get a chance to see him up close a few times when he was in Colorado campaigning. I was very impressed with him.

Since I didn't have the opportunity to vote for Clark in our caucuses, I was glad that I had the chance to vote for Kucinich.

I did get to shake Clark's hand when he was in Colorado rallying for the Kerry/Edwards ticket.

I waited on him in the restuarant I worked at; the Merle Pollis show was done in the same place, and he did the show right afterwards..
