5. It is over only if we let it be over. We are the media.
...... Mangate is a bush killer. The media is running from this story but
it does not mean it is dead. e mail somebody in congress .... write your
paper ..... call a talk show ..... Hell, a DUer called Grasswire broke this story.

This goes to Rove, bush and all over. Do not let this story be killed by
a 24 hour news cycle. We are the media. Fight back.

:kick:

mangate = bush killer

6. Festering...Developing...
Pundit Payola is widespread and won't be an easy nut to be cracked. We got a gift in "Gannon" and it's taking time to sort out all the twists and turns this thing takes into the underworld of GOOP politics and the corporate media.

Remember, Watergate didn't really break into the open for nearly 8 months after the break-in and then it still took another year and a half to completely play out. That story developed with a far more credible media than we have today.

Fortunately we also have a larger universe and sources of media that are working on this story. Just in a couple days of digging we not only learned about "Gannon's" private life, but he's a tax cheat and now about "Talon News" and other sham operations that are used to intimidate and manipulate the corporate media.

We have to get vocal about this story...and keep piecing this elaborate scam together.

According to the corporate media, this story is over, until the next payola mess breaks out. And it will.

7. His name is out there and so is his face. If someone can tell us
more, I'm sure this story will continue to develop. In particular, look to the White House investigation of how he got credentials in the first place as another potential piece of the puzzle. I suspect there is one more fruit to pluck from the Gannon tree, before the next punditgate story is revealed.

8. WaPo reporter thanks me for my Thursday note today.
Which leads me to believe he's still keeping an eye on the story.

Actually, I don't think he's a reporter but rathr a commentator: Froomkin?

10. Froomkin
Dan Froomkin first brought up "Jeff Gannon" and his softball questions a year ago in his column. He also mentioned the oddity of Gannon's connection with the Plame case last March. I'm sure he is keeping an eye on this, at least.

12. Think the Sunday morning talk shows will give us an idea of
how serious the main stream news whores are taking this story. I'm betting we don't hear a word or if it comes up we'll get another quote from SnottyScotty to a talking head denying, denying, denying.

Of course, we did have the "elections" in Iraq to talk about, the "secret" trip to Iraq for Rumsfeld, Social Security reform, budget cuts, Michael Jackson, etc. Rove is the master of burying all truthful reports of this administration with perfect new "news" until it dies down. This is like a frigging chess game to him and the MSM allows him to play the game while they keep playing checkers. They know they are being played, they just don't care.

13. Did anyone notice how "liberal media" was replaced with "mainstream"?
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 09:55 AM by robbedvoter
You would think it would be good news, but it isn't, because now 'main stream" becomes the dirty connotation. Gannon is not covered by RW bloggers cause a CNN news executive to resign for comments made in Switzerland about Iraq.
Is anyone seing the larger picture?
Randi was wishing for all reporters to stop covering the WH - but she missed the point to: THEY DO NOT NEED REPORTERS AT ALL
Gannon is the future of the news. Everything else is "main stream" therefore it must be withered. And it will. Dan Rather was the first shot.
So, to respond to the original question: Gannon isn't going anywhere. He'll be anchoring Fatherland TV soon.

14. It's over...for two reasons:
1. The corporate media only goes after those on the left.

2. Not enough Democrats are making it a front page story by demanding investigations or prosecution.

15. Oh I think it's just the tip of the iceberg
Gannon is just a little vermin in a festering pond of rats and roaches.

The real story is who is behind Gannon and all the other dirty tricks that Rove is so famous for.

Here's a clue - Gannon is to Kato Katlin, what Bobby Eberle is to OJ

16. Way Over. Howie Will Do the Obit Today, If at All
Yesterday, the FauxWatch circus, supposedly a "media watchdog" had NOTHING on it. One might think that a ringer getting into the WH press corpse would be a number one topic for discussion---but noooooo. Not to mention that an interloper can sidestep SECURITY.

17. Toldja, Howie: "It's personal." GERGIN: "Can't get excited over this."
Bill PRESS was wonderful, as usual, where Mistah KURTZ set him up this way: "You were Democratic chairman in California, do you also have an obligation to be fair?" Bill laughed, "And I've stopped beating my wife, too." He went on to say that the Dem job was volunteer, not a penny, and when he went to work for CNN he has not reaped one cent from partisan jobs, had earned it all from paid commentating. SHUT UP HOWIE!

But in the GUEKERT thing, Bill and the blog dude said it was a big deal and fair game, while KURTZ shut them down saying, "It was the PERSONAL stuff that brought him down." Plus KURTZ continued what Faux has been doing, saying that "EVERYBODY changes their name," while GERGIN said, "I have a tough time getting excited about this," that JFK had a Liberal woman from Texas who would bail him out with softballs when he got in trouble, just like Scottie and Shrub.

See? It's over. Who talks about Armstrong WILLIAMS anymore? Oh, GERGIN ----did===say that the payola was a bigger deal.

18. The Guckert/Gannon/MellenCougar story is about the PLAME Memo!!!!
BushCo. seems to be desperately trying to frame what little public debate this issue is receiving as being about "fake names", "press passes", "personal attacks" by bloggers and "the WH press corps has always had partisans". The real issue that they fear is the Plame memo aspect of this scandal. The memo could become something much larger in a hurry and they DO NOT want that to happen.

19. I think more will come out. What was Guckert doing all the years before
his Talon News job...and Congresswoman Slaughter is onto it. It does have to do with Plame and that's why the MS Press is doing everything to cover it up.

They feel they have so much power they can still throw the dirt over the body but forget that the internet is busily behind them with a shovel uncovering what they try to deny us access to.

There are too many questions about Guckert and the "gay escort" thing ties back into Poppy/Reagan.

20. Over....for now.
We may hear a few little tidbits here and there about Gannon, but I believe the only way it will really break open is if a 2nd White House reporter of Gannon's mold is discovered. Then how can it be avoided? Then again, placing any accountability onto those in the White House was avoided when it came to the crapfest of documents about uranium and aluminum tubes.

For now all we can do is send every story that hits the independent press to Mr. Olberman.

21. Gannon issue mentioned by Howard Fineman on the Chris Matthews

show this morning. At the end he mentions the guy who got press credentials, a blogger who got White House press credentials and the press association is going to have to deal with it. I'll go looking for a transcript and post here when it comes out. He was talking about G/G.

No transcript on line yet.
