There is no consensus. Woodward said deepthroat is very sick, and his obituary has already been written. He also said it is a man, and not a composite. Assuming he is telling the truth, I dont see how GHW Bush could be that sick. He was just at the inauguration.

... is Woodward's statement that DT was a very heavy drinker and smoker, which doesn't fit with GHWB. Otherwise, Bush, at the time, would have been privy to a lot of the information DT was able to divulge, since he was in `72 and `73 chairman of the RNC and UN ambassador.

But, apart from the issues of skin cancer and Graves' Disease, Bush is reasonably healthy, from all reports.

After thinking about it, the only person I know that may be on his way out and linked to that time is Gerald Ford---Mr. Nice Guy!! He didn't attend the Clinton library dedication with the others, etc. and seems to be getting real frail. Anyway, I wonder if this Mr. Nobody whom nobody ever suspected knew more than we thought and was outraged by Nixon's behavior and outted him. He was the one who benefitted from it.
