What type of leader should lead us in these perilous times?
Would it be a "uniter" instead of a "divider"? Would it be someone that could inspire us with his words? Would it be someone that people could trust as being an honest person? Would it be someone who would speak up for the least amongst us - rather than the wealthiest? Would it be someone that would resort to war only as a last resort? Would it be someone that would have the respect of the rest of the world? Unfortunately, the so-called leader we now have, has none of the qualities mentioned above. No, not one.

1. David Cobb, Dennis Kucenich, maybe Gore
The type who represent the people not corporate cons.

2. I'd Settle for Someone Who Wasn't Clinically Insane
and didn't have a major personality disorder. And Oh! IQ over 120 would be nice!

3. John Kerry, a uniter, would have been a spectacular choice

but the powers that be stacked the deck and we are left the divider *

9. JK, without a doubt! I still believe it was (and IS) his destiny.
He was (and IS) the "steady-hand" this nation and world needs RIGHT NOW! Not 4 years from now.

Sigh...

4. i think many of the things you say are good.
but when you think of leaders who were uniters instead of dividers, inspirational speakers, and such...hitler comes to mind.

but obviously your other stuff contradicts hitler, so i think we need someone who's charismatic enough to catch everyone's attention and show them what we're really about. dean might be able to pull it off. otherwise...
:/

5. I think Wes Clark fits your qualities awfully well
Wes is a respected leader around the world. He recently participated at a conference on the Mideast in Dubai. And he will be participating in a UN group, by invitation. The leaders of Europe know him & he has awards out the ears from the International Community.

"War as a Last Resort" was a common campaign theme of his; those who have participated in battle, are the most reluctant warriors.

Honesty? Witness his campaign: he was too honest to be a politician.
Mario Cuomo had an excellent quote about Wes's honesty, which I don't have a link to, but perhaps some Clarkie will help me out.

Speak up for the least amongst us? Wes did on the campaign trail, & had a long career of working with the people below him.

A Uniter? Look at the job he did at NATO, keeping how many countries united during a war?

All the attributes you mention, that are missing in this administration, would become reality again for our country if he was our President.

6. I have to agree..
General Clark would've been an excellent leader in foreign policy to repair the damage done by Chimpco.

7. Agree on the foreign policy part
but he would also be wonderful on the domestic part.

Why? He cares about people. He started out with nothing but his own intelligence, however he didn't forget where he came from.

I truly believe he would be an empathetic, caring leader, as well.

10. Senator Boxer
She should be the nominee in 2008.

I don't get all of the Clark stuff. He's a general after all and he voted for Reagan.

I'll take a real progressive like Boxer over him any day.
