Indiana state repuke's car involved in fatal hit-run
Ok, so hard can it be to ask <and answer> "Who had your car that day?"

Police investigators impounded a vehicle belonging to state Rep. Tom Saunders in their investigation of a fatal hit and run.

Thomas M. Jackman, 56, of New Castle, died after being struck by a vehicle late Friday or early Saturday, police said. Jackman suffered head and other injuries when he was hit and died Saturday evening at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Saunders, a Republican from Lewisville, told The Courier-Times that a vehicle registered to him had been confiscated by investigators but said that he was not involved in the crash.

"Our focus of the investigation is to get the responsible person involved into custody and find out what actually happened that morning," New Castle Police Chief Jim Nicholson said. "We want to see that the right person is charged."

3. well, there is already Laura Bush and Janklow of south dakota
at least Teddy Kennedy isn't like the right wingers in wanting those who do wrong to be punished and codemned by society for life. he believes in giving people other chances and help.

State Rep. Tom Saunders and his wife were questioned in a Henry County courtroom as part of an ongoing investigation into a fatal hit and run that may have involved a car owned by Saunders.

Police have identified Saunders' 23-year-old son, Andrew, as "a person of interest" in Saturday's death of Thomas M. Jackman, 56, of New Castle.

"Right now, he's the focus of the investigation," said Henry County Deputy Prosecutor Malcolm Edwards.

The essence of the father's testimony was the son said he didn't remember beyond a certain point that night," he said, declining to elaborate. The prosecutor's office held off subpoenaing Andrew Saunders because they wanted to hear first from his parents, Edwards said. He said Andrew Saunders may be subpoenaed if he does not voluntarily talk to investigators.

5. This is the party of mandatory sentences...
except if it's them or their kid. Then they made a mistake and their memory is fuzzy and it's *mumbles* fault.

6. And I love how they are stalling questioning him....
WTF? The guy is in his 20's and the law is waiting to talk to his parents first???? And waiting for him to cooperate before they issue a subpoena?
