Update on DFA from its new chairman, Jim Dean.
I know Tom Hughes will stay on as executive director, not sure who will be going with Howard to the DNC.

SNIP...."I want express my thanks to all of you who have worked so hard on Howard's behalf throughout his Presidential campaign, Democracy for America, and his successful campaign for DNC chair.

I also want to thank you for getting Democracy for America off the ground and turning our organization into a vibrant long-term investment in bringing integrity, civility, and common sense to our political system.

I am working with Democracy for America because I believe that continuing our mission is critical to the vitality and survival of our country; and because the success of DFA will help others who are working towards this goal.

We are in good shape. We are sound financially (thank you!). We have most of our staff. We are bringing in good people to help out more, and most of all we are blessed with all of the help that you have given us.

To our departing staff, and to Howard, we wish them the best, for their success will be ours as well.

As for DFA, we have an incredible opportunity to shape the next elections and the efforts to take back our country. With your help, we can continue to get candidates elected in our local races and bring serious mojo to the party in the '06 elections. It starts now, and it starts right where we all live.

In the coming weeks, we will begin the process of candidate endorsements for this year's 2005 elections. We also expect to help out with several referendums that will be on the ballot in several states.
We want to hear from you if your DFA group is working on any races or referendums.

I also plan to begin traveling soon. I am hoping to meet with many of you in all the regions before the DemocracyFest on June 17th to 19th. The folks in Texas are doing a bang-up job organizing this event. There are already 410 people signed up. It should be a lot of fun, so please RSVP and we'll see you there.

There are many issues to talk about, and a lot for us to do. I'll be updating you on our progress again soon.

Until then, my heartfelt thanks to all, and please enjoy one of my favorite days of the year!

All my best,
Jim Dean

2. LOL I knew someone would say that.
Can't say James Dean either as the 50s teen idol comes to mind. Oh, well, this Jim Dean is a cutie also. He will be good for DFA.

5. His brother. Sorry I did not make that clear.
He lives in CT, and he has been on the road a lot with the group.
