What's up with this whole Chalabi - Iraq thing?
I thought we distanced ourselves from him and excoriated him for assorted wrongdoings... if my memory serves me right... didn't we blame him at one time for getting the WMD thing wrong in Iraq? "He gave us bad info, it's all his fault?" And then other things...?

So now we've taken it upon ourselves to insert him into the new government that the Iraqis elected?

I mean, WTF?

I may not be very well versed in this subject but it flittered across the news once and then disappeared without a reaction as far as I could tell.

:wtf:

1. As long as Rumsfeld remains as Secretary of War, Chalabi...
...stays in the picture, billions of dollars will continue to disappear and our troops will remain under-equipped and the war will drag on and on and on to the tune of $100 to $200 billion per year.

2. It was the CIA
which had Chalabi on the run last summer. Since then, the CIA has been purged and rendered irrelevant by Chalabi's allies among the neocons.

The neocons have won the power struggle. Barring a major miracle, World War III is dead ahead—with the emphasis on "dead" as in a lot of dead people all over the world, many of them innocent bystanders who don't even follow politics all that closely, much less believe they have any influence over it.

That's where I am. I have no influence. The elections are rigged. At least half the people in this country are crazy anyhow. So I've made my peace with God and I am ready for the next life.

3. The "Conservative idiots" writer(s) on DU posited...
that his negative attention in the U.S. was to increase his credibility among Iraqis, so he could hold office for us.

5. It actually makes sense...
that the WH distance themselves from Chalabi...how else can he be taken seriously as a leader by Iraqis?
