McClellan's mother may run for TX gov...
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 04:37 PM by rainbow4321
Heh, heh, heh...kinda ironic that one of the few churches that would welcome her allegedly/rumored gay son is a church that she trashes down here in TX...tsk, tsk tsk. She is also considering a run for TX gov in 2006.

http://www.revjm.com/dissent.htm

the Comptroller of the State of Texas, Carole Keeton Strayhorn, says that a Unitarian Universalist application should be refused. Strayhorn is a conservative evangelical who says our church is a “cult” – here is a quote from her own official press release: “This fight is about …any wannabe cult who dresses up and parades down street on Halloween….” Strayhorn had to instruct a junior official to approve that application by a Unitarian Universalist church this past week. But even so, Strayhorn says she’s going to “fight” and appeal the approvals she doesn't want to make to the United States Supreme Court.
<snip>

And Strayhorn is not a loose cannon on the fringe of things – Strayhorn has two sons, one son who was just appointed to run the Medicare system of the United States, and the other who managed three of her political campaigns and is now the Press Secretary for the White House

Her name missing from an invitation letter to an upcoming Texas Republican Party fund-raiser, state Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn cried foul Tuesday and blamed the perceived snub on Gov. Rick Perry. Spokespersons for Perry and the party dodged responsibility for the omission, the latest flap to erupt between the governor and the comptroller, who is eyeing a challenge to Perry in next year's Republican primary.

The event, which will benefit the state party, is scheduled for Feb. 22 in Austin. With ticket prices ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, it is being billed as a tribute to Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick.

An invitation letter mailed this week was signed by all other elected statewide officials except Strayhorn, members of the judiciary and the two U.S. senators from Texas, Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn. Hutchison also is considering a race against Perry.

Strayhorn received $50,000 from Walter Umphrey of Beaumont and $50,000 from John Eddie Williams of Houston. They were two of five plaintiffs' lawyers, hired by former Attorney General Dan Morales, who shared $3.3 billion in legal fees from Texas' multibillion-dollar settlement with the tobacco industry in 1998. Normally, they give to Democratic candidates.

7. Hope not...
cuz I sure as hell would not vote for her even if she weasled her way back into the dem party.

It should get interesting to see the dynamics of her and Perry trashing each other as they have been doing...with Perry being close to shrub, Strayhorn being the mother of shrub's news guy, etc...

I've disliked the woman since reading she used the word "cult" when talking about my (UU) religion. Saying things like that tends to rub people the wrong way :grr:

6. Texas needs a strong dem candidate
and even if she does come back into the dem fold, she's not it. If Hutchison runs, she'll smoke Perry (IMO) but dems need someone really, really strong to take on Perry and/or Hutchison.
