1. Buchanan's been anti-Iraq War since the beginning

He's been writing against the Iraq War since at least early 2003, check his writings in American Conservative. He sees it as an extension of an American Empire and is opposed on that point.

He has many "bones of contention" with this administration but don't be decieved, he'll never be won over to the left. He's a staunch traditional conservative - smaller government, get rid of social programs, tax codes that support wealth, anti-immigration, etc. He endorsed Bush for the 2004 election. He does not support the neo-cons or their empire-building policies.

2. i often agree with buchanan

which scares the piss out of me.

isolationism isn't conservative or liberal. its populist.

3. Buchanan's position is actually the majority---

that the US isn't in the charity business and there are limits to the amount of money and blood the US should spend to help other nations.

Since helping Iraqis acheive a stable democracy and economy is the sole reason to now stay in Iraq provided by Bushites, Buchanan is speaking out.

4. Which paleo conservative will go balistic over "Gannon"

This post made me wonder. All it takes is one like Buchanan to just go nuts and push the issue from the other side...you know, the 'civil war in the Republican party' storyline. CM (corporate media) would buy that and puppy dog the "Gannon" stuff along with it. Very clean and they still get to sell soap with the "gay prostie" melodrama.
