Mainstream Media covers the story about Sen. Barbara Boxer's roses:

Love bows to D.C. security

SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. Etter is from the Medill News Service.
February 14, 2005
WASHINGTON - Cupid is working harder than ever on Capitol Hill.

Since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Valentine's Day around the Capitol complex has become a logistical nightmare for florists trying to deliver bouquets of roses and boxes of chocolate to admired senators, representatives and staffers.

<snip>

In fact, Capitol authorities are discouraging valentines sent to work altogether. "We stress if you don't have to have something delivered here, don't," said Capitol Police spokeswoman Contricia Sellers-Ford.

All of which hasn't deterred the grassroots Barbara Boxer Rose Campaign from ordering about 200 dozen roses to be delivered to the outspoken Democratic senator from California. Boxer plans to donate the roses to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

1. How about donating the roses to the wounded Iraqis
that became victims of the Pentagon's programmed collateral damage?

Personally, I think they'd be more insulted by the roses than by the Beanie Babies.

Also, having their electricity and running water again might be nice, too.

6. IG
sometimes you need to chill.

Boxer is one of the few people in DC willing to take a stand for our side. I think it was a beautiful gesture on her part.

13. It might be a beautiful gesture
except to the families of those killed by American bombs or that had their loved ones tortured and humiliated by our glorious troops.

While I respect and admire Barbara Boxer for standing up to Bush, we must come to grips with the crimes our troops have committed in our name while following the orders of the criminal cabal that is running our country. If we don't, then we are no better than the Germans during World War II.

14. You know we both agree
about the war. But get real. How much would it cost to ship all these flowers to Iraq and by the time they get there, they would be dead anyway. Nice gift, here's some dead roses for your husband that we killed. I don't think so.

7. You think the MSM will cover her visit to the vets like they do for Bush?
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 09:01 AM by IanDB1
I give it a 30% chance we'll see Sen. Boxer on TV giving roses to the vets.

I also give it a 60% chance that Sen. Boxer will ask the MSM NOT to show-up, because she won't want it to look like a cheap photo-op... which is what it is for Bush and Cheney.

Bush: "I'm going to visit the vets because I care. Make sure you bring cameras and don't shoot from behind me, or you might see the lump."

12. She may be humble
But she is still a politician. She knows the value of good PR. If the thugs can use a phoney photo shoot for publicity, we should be proud to use a real one for the same purpose.

15. You have got it absolutely right!
She has such terrific morals and standards that I believe that there's very little chance she would ask the MSM to cover this story. No cheap photo-ops for our classy Senator! And I also agree about Bush and the lump...

9. All I can say is, ***####%%%%@@@ bush, who, as B. J. Sabri states in
his article, "The Splendid Failure of Occupation - Part 27: Demystifying 9/11", ELEVATED 9/11 FROM A CRIME TO AN ALIBI FOR IMPERIAL COLONIALISM...

and who, in my own opinion, has not only taken the joy out of Valentine's Day at the Hill, but has also taken the joy out of retirement for social security recipients, put the fear of i don't know who on all of the people dependent on government programs that he has now just cut in his new budge, and brownshirted the celebration of Christmas from the very first Christmas that he was in office, CHRISTMAS 2001.

I have to work very hard to keep myself from sending Bush to the Four Letter Word Dumpster where he belongs.
