Poll question: Bitch about Your Congressional Representative Here!
Edited on Mon Feb-14-05 11:14 PM by elshiva
Please rate your congress person. Note who your congressperson is what party they (officially) represent as well as the state.
My congressman is Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland's sixth District. He rates an "E" Bushbot repuke for his parroting of Dubya's SS b.s. and his Moonie pandering. ABB 2006! (Anybody But Bartlett).

1. I would be better represented by a piece of toast, pastey white bread
toast, sitting cold and soggy from its own steam than that mealy mouth, spineless dip-shit, Dennis Rehberg. Lucky me, Montana only has ONE Congressional Rep.

2. I don't particularly like him, but he's polite and moderate on some issues
Jim Ramstad gets a D, or maybe a D+, because he's historically been very nice to me, even though I'm a hardcore Democrat that worked for his opponent. *shrug*

3. Mine's Issa - who funded the Davis recall out here in Cal.
Then bowed out out of the race when Rove most probably told him too, while they carried out their vile plans for my beloved California. Backed by the radical religious right.

But ... the good news is that ... my Senator is Barbara Boxer.

I'm just a talkin' about being in the district of Darrell Issa, Republican supported by the hard right.

But, other than that, life is good!

I will be able to post more after I get done taking the California Bar Test.

Good night, All!

6. Jim Moran, D, VA, 8th District. EXCELLENT DEMOCRAT
We're happy with him. His district goes from Reston through McLean and Arlington to Alexandria, the most liberal part of the state. He won with about 70% of the vote. He's solid and on Pelosi's team. He beat a Republican named Mary Cheney (no relation to the dickster) last time. He'll win forever. Our next task in Northern Virginia is to unseat Tom Davis, R, a so-called "moderate" Republican who votes DeLay.

28. He did make highly inappropriate and inaccurate remarks about
"Jewish" support for the Iraq War. He confused the American Jewish community in general with the Neocons. He got a ration of grief from people everywhere, particularly in his district. He apologized, made amends, and has not said this again. Had he continued in this vein, even one more comment, he would have lost in the primary. As it was, I don't think his opponent got more than 30% of the vote. I was very upset with him when he made the remarks but I was impressed with his actions afterwords and his ability to just drop this altogether. Other than that serious error, he's been a solid Democrat for years.

Raised eyebrows among Jewish relatives, but didn't hear the follow-up. I like a person who can admit mistakes and make amends. Good for Moran. Kerry and Dean do it, but Dubya can't which makes him an idiot.

40. He's a hot head but when focused, he's a great advocate and fighter.
His district is very liberal, not just by Virginia standards. He was deluged with input and urgings to correct this and apologize. As I said, his fault tolerance was about zero and he behaved. To tell the truth, the reason I like him is due to the fact that prior to this election, Tom Davis was my Rep., a total hypocrite.

sometimes he means well, but he puts his foot in his mouth.

I was at an NAACP dinner and he was talking about Slavery and the state of Virginia. He meant to pay homage to those who were slaves. But he said something about how much slavery contributed to the Virginia economy. It was uncomfortable and weird.

Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 12:41 AM by sacxtra
Since Matsui Died. It's kind of hard to rate. Were supposed to have a *SPECIAL ELECTION* on March 8th for the 5th Congressional District.

Should we vote for Doris? Can she get the flood control finished?

Will our vote count now that we have no Secretary of State and we still have electronic voting machines?

Will the vote be manipulated and a Republican take Matsui's and Shelly's place.

Sacramento and American rivers are an accident waiting to happen. I even heard now they say we don't need flood control insurance. Yet the flood protection has yet to be finished. Bush Cut it. Like everything else he's decimating, he's ruining the Army Corps of Engineers also!

Damn, every night we sleep, they neoCon Death cult get's their hands in more and more things.

51. Alaska has only 1 congressman -- Don Young
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 04:35 AM by LdyGuique
As far as I can tell, Don Young is close to useless other than as a "me-too" for the Repugs and adding his own pork to the Stevens' barrel, including an absolutely unnecessary bridge down in Ketchikan -- a bridge that no resident believes is necessary. As far as I inow, he's never taken a stance basced on ethics or beliefs -- just brings enough pork home to keep the ppl happy. But, then I'm new to the state -- I see another Alaskan posted a better review than I did :) She's prolly been a longer term resident.

90. Hi Lady Gique ...
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 11:12 PM by Blue_In_AK
Yes, I've been here since 1975, and I pretty much agree with you on Don Young's record, but I see him as fairly harmless, not a rabid neocon or anything, and, as I said, I was very pleasantly surprised that he voted against that bill last week about the homeland security stuff at the borders. It would sure be nice if we could get some decent democrats to run for his spot ... we haven't had a Democratic congressperson since 1980, when Mike Gravel left.

ed.... oops, sorry I misspelled your name.

95. Hello Blue_in_AK
Nice to meetcha. Well, my spelling is unique and has allowed me to maintain a unique presence online; however, I don't take its spelling "personal." :)

Politics in Alaska are somewhat different than in other states due to a range of issues that are substantally different than elsewhere. We're nearly a 3rd world nation in terms of being so far outside of the lower 48 in so many ways. Politicians up here have been a major player in picking up as big of a piece of the budget pie as possible so that Alaska can grow and develop.

52. Taxation without representation. Total Chimp whore.
Roscoe Bartlett has not had an original thought in his life. He votes completely down the line with the idiot. Cheney even showed up for his fundraiser in god forsaken Hagerstown, MD, the warehouse capital of Maryland. This guy would definitely vote to re-institute slavery.

54. Mine - Rep Jan Schakowsky D-Il 9th Congressional District
And I'm proud to have her representing me in Congress. She serves her predominantly liberal North Side well, she's attuned to her constituents's needs and she's a tireless, committed champion of liberal Democrats.

64. I'm stuck with a shithead named
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 01:12 PM by LibDemAlways
Elton Gallagly, former mayor of Simi Valley and all around asshole. He's a brainless freeptard who never met a chimp proposal he wasn't completely in favor of. The idiot wins every time with the same 65% of the vote he gets from repukes and Dems who aren't paying attention. His seat is considered "safe."

Up until a couple of years ago I was represented by a moderate Dem named Brad Sherman - no great shakes, but not nearly as bad as Gallagly. I've now been redistricted into freepville.

No bitch here. Couldn't ask for a better Congressman. And he actually fought for those that were hassled trying to vote in Ohio, go figure. Rumors are he may be challenging Daley as Mayor. That is a win, win. Daley is ok, having some problems lately. But he is no Harold Washington.

69. Not easy, but I'll try: Why won't Neil Abercrombie run for President?
(D-HI 1st) The first time I saw Neil speak was at a Martin Luther King dinner in Jan. '04, right before New Hampshire. He was just smoking hot -- unlike most of the Dem primary candidates. I thought, "Why can't we get this guy on a plane to New Hampshire tonight?"

Abercrombie was among the very first elected officials to back Dean's candidacy.

Substantive bitch: He actually supports the "ADA Notification Act", which would give business yet another way to weasel out of compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. It's backed by the tourism industry, you see...
