Any ideas on who linked the CIA agents (Plame) name?
I would think THIS story and the implications of it are capable of bringing down and administration the same way Nixon was brought down.

I think the implications are a political assassination attempt against a CIA agent.

This is the administrations deep throat at the moment.

Why do you suppose the reporters refuse to release the name?

Colin Powell, bush and cheney have all been subpoenaed. do you Think any of them could have been the leak. I'm thinking Colin Powell looked mighty guilty toward the end of his run and he seemed to be hiding an awful lot, but I could be reading something into it that isn't there.

Latest story about the court proceedings on this case is here:

1. The road was leading to Libby
Cheney's right hand man.

The leak put many agent's lives at risk, but also stopped cold an ongoing investigation in illegal nuclear arms trading, which benefited - for a short time - the government of Pakistan, our ally in the Afghanistan war.

3. I'm not sure
It makes sense that Bush and Cheney fully discussed it, and Libby was TOLD to do it. But there had to be more involved. This isn't Rove type stuff...

4. Rove wasn't even on my radar, but I agree with that. He doesn't do
this type of rhetoric. I don't think it is a staffer though. Or if it is, I think the staffer can name names and, dates, and quotes.

5. Probably more than one person
But my new wacky theory is they made Guckert a Gannon to be a "journalist" and then privileged sources.

But he's a quaking in his shorts reading that the judge said to jail with your sources. Course he's not no journalist neither-but when did reality ever matter to the Republican controlled brain we seem to be living inside?

Either way Guckert/Gannon is expendable.

Why they refuse?

They are whores and traitors. Next question?

Sorry, that was rude..but really who are they protecting..it better be to save lives since protecting their precious journalists sources is costing lives.

Oh..to save their job..their job worth so much in this age of propaganda. Really...Judith Miller's job is already OVER. A real job of reporting real news that is. The ship has sailed Judy, doncha get it? Chalabi ain't no hero.

That's what she doesn't realize. She's was used and now she's protecting THEM?

Stupid is as stupid does.

6. Well I sort of agree, but I think there is a lot of merit to the argument
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 06:26 PM by bush_is_wacko
that the source may be endangered. I do think in cases like this "the source" ought to realize he/she is in far more danger if the public DOESN'T know their identity but the administration KNOWS who they are. What is one more dead lackey in a string of other dead political players?!

And, quite frankly, at this point in the game there are any number of companies willing to offer a whistle blower on this administration a job. It might not pay as good and it might not have so many perks, but a job and a book deal are certain in this case.
