Looking at Congressional voting records, DK looks like the Pres choice.
His problem has always been the lack of accurate publicity. He was the best debater of all the primary candidates and according to most of the audiences polled, he won each debate he was in. However, the trick is to educate the American public on why we need to breath clean air, why we need to drink clean water, why we need to have our votes counted and why we need to live in peace. Some people think that clean air, clean water, voting rights and peace are issues that only lefties care about. But most of the people I talk to agree 100% with Dennis's positions on the issues. So, we have three years to educate the public that it's OK to want these things and that people who care about people can in fact win.

Overall, the Progress Caucus, which he co-chairs with Barbara Lee, contains the brightest minds in Congress, with the exception of a couple more conservative members. We need to get the Waters, Woolsey, Watson, Lee, McKinney, Tubbs-Jones, Corrine Brown, and of course Dennis, into higher office.

2. in my fondest dreams, Dennis Kucinich is America's president....

DK is the soul of the democratic party, IMO. There is no other democrat that I would support as fervently. Barbara Boxer is edging in to the wish zone, but DK has more creds than anyone alive.

on edit: I'm green now, but I'll tell you this-- if DK is the nominee of ANY party I will work my heart out for him.

3. I voted for him in the Missouri Dem Primary.
He was brilliant, clear and articulate during the primary campaigns. I also convinced my wife to vote for him. Of course, it was an easy thing to do after she heard him speak and debate. Unfortunately, he was never perceived as a frontrunner by MSM and got precious little press coverage, and therefore, less financial support. That's where Dean as head of DNC can help, by throwing more power and money to state and local party orgs.

4. There's no finer speech writer in American politics today . . .
His Prayer for America was the finest piece I've read in decades, no doubt the finest since Kennedy's Inaugural. The task, however, is getting him before the American public. If he can make his case, he'll be a contender.

5. Even DK knew he wasn't in it to win it, other DK supporters have told me
He was in it to influence the debate, making sure certain issues were brought up. Or perhaps the DK person I spoke to meant that he STAYED in the race for that reason, way after it was apparent he wasn't going to get the nom.

Of all the candidates, and as good a man as he was, Dennis didn't have a snowball's chance in hell.

12. Good guy. Will take a few decades to win.
I support DK's positions on almost every issue. Unfortunately we are currently in the process of pushing America away from the right. I think it will take a few more decades before the American public are ready for DK.

Reps. Woolsey and Lee Elected to Lead Progressive Caucus In New Congress

WASHINGTON -- February 8 -- U.S. Representatives Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) today were unanimously elected co-chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

"During the last election cycle, tens of thousands of people got involved with politics for the first time because they were drawn to the basic principles of fairness and justice that the Progressive Caucus has long represented in Congress," said Caucus Co-Chair Lee. "We will continue our commitment to these principles, and I hope to build stronger connections with young people and communities of color and strengthen the role of the Progressive Caucus in giving voice to this emerging progressive majority."

"The Progressive Caucus will continue to be at the forefront of issues that affect our country, our world and future generations," said Caucus Co-Chair Woolsey. "The Bush Administration is taking us down a treacherous path in regards to our domestic budget priorities and international policies. I look forward to working with Co-Chair Lee and the other members of the Progressive Caucus in putting America back on track by protecting civil rights, promoting renewable energy sources, supporting U.S. troops by bringing them home from Iraq, and fighting the real war against terrorism by working towards international cooperation and peace rather than warmongering."

As the largest Caucus within the Democratic Caucus, the Progressive Caucus has had success in influencing both national policy and the Democratic Party. It was the Progressive Caucus that led the anti-war effort that ended up with two-thirds of Democrats voting against the authorization of the use of force against Iraq.
