If a Democratic administration was involved in the gannon fiasco.
Let's be honest here. If this had been a Democratic Administration that had allowed a jeff gannon/gluckert/smith/beddows whatever the f his last name is into White House briefings, how long would it have taken o'lielly, insanity or some other rw nutjob to be demanding for "FULL CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS" on this bizarre and sordid situation? And how this was another example of criminal arrogance by the White House.
I'm guessing 6.2 seconds.

1. As usual, things would be much different
This can be a fun game.

Imagine Clinton going through any single one of the scandals to come out of the Bush Administration. The end result would be the same.

But Bush does it and there is silence.

There is a reason that 9/11 happened, you know.

2. We'd already know what brand of tighty-whities all involved wear.
As well as where bought and by whom.

3. Check out the Nashua Advocate
(I don't know how to do a link)

They're musing a bit more overtly about Gannon and McClellan.

Now if we can only get the media to say over and over "the scandal involving the Bush White House over the alleged gay prostitute Jeff Gannon"......

4. That's one of those things
My problem with the Gannon Scandal is that it is a little small time--not saying it isn't important, but do the long term implications line up against leading us into war on false pretenses, or claiming to save Social Security while really destroying it.

But then I think, what if it were Clinton, what would they be saying? And I'm back to being fine with it.

10. keep them on defense -- the more they have to answer to questions
of gay hookers planted in the press corps, the more they will be associated with gay hookers planted in the press corps.

11. Gannon/Guckert ties into both those major issues you mentioned.
Gannon/Guckert and "Talon News" spread false terror stories. That was done to keep the fear alive, so people would more easily be led into preemptive invasion.

And we also know that there are--or are about to be--bought-and-paid-for shills put out to falsely claim Social Security is in "trouble", so that Bush can "fix" (destroy) it.

8. If this had gone on in 1998
There would already be three different special prosecutors appointed to investigate.

9. And that's all
Larry King and his blonde posse, Hardball, Hannnity & Colmes, O'Reilly, Russert (and all the other political shows I left out) would
talk about - night after night. It would be as if the very foundation of the nation was crumbling and perhaps the Gannon outrage would rival the destruction of the Constitution.

It's hard to believe something could top the sordid Lewinsky story, but if the Democrats had allowed this Gannon fakery to happen when they were in charge, the hand-ringing and predictions of doom for the country's future would make an affair between consenting adults only the business of the people involved.

I think you're too generous in giving them over six seconds to work up their special brand of phoney outrage and sancntimony.

12. TV Satellite trucks would be everywhere
The media would be camped out 24-7 outside of Gannon's house.

Every time he went to the grocery store there would be live coverage about it. In fact, the cashier at the grocery store would be interviewed by Larry King.

Larry: So, Linda, as the cashier you saw Gannon buy some groceries today. Did he talk to you about the controversy surrounding his relationship with the White House?

Linda: No Larry, he didn't. He just bought some bread. But I'm writing a book about it and it will be published by Regnery next week.
