Thanks to Bush, we`re all cowboys now.
Bush`s recklessness seems to be the impetus for some kind of bully-boy nationalism sweeping the country. No rules, no oversight, no nothing but brazen disdain toward the rest of the world. "USA, USA,USA" no matter what. It sends chills down my spine.

This bully-boy crap is everywhere, from the embedded reporters sucking up inside the safety of the Green Zone to their corporate bosses torn over a decision between flash-newsing the new cover of Sports Illustrated or giving an update on Michael Jackson`s flu symptoms. All this while tsunami victims pick through rubble looking for a scrap of anything and Iraqi children stare at the spot where their other leg used to be.

It`s just as bad in Congress where they`ve convinced one another that we actually own Iraq and have the right to impose our will. Only "terrorists" disagree...or liberals who love terrorists.

This live rodeo scene we`re witnessing is driven by variables long lauded in rightwing circles: imposed fear, absolute power, bags of cold cash. Want to claim "X"...then crush it and assume authority over it. The moral authority part comes when you plant some cameramen and go to church. This "take`em out" mindset is deeply troubling, especially since the Chickenhawk Cowboys in charge have never seen one single day of the danger they`ve forced on others.

1. We're not cowboys, and neither is he
It's an odd misuse of the word.

I wonder how people who are both politically liberal and real cowboys react to this.

2. Not odd at all.
All my dictionaries have more than one meaning for the word...cowboy.

4. here's one for ya
One of my friends is married to (beyond a shadow of a doubt) the DUMBEST rethug i have ever met in my life..... sometimes here in Va. we get those sane moderate conservatives ya know... but that's not this guy.

WELL, we were at about a 20 person dinner party last weekend and I mentioned that i would like to see Mark Warner run for senate then president......
He says.... "I want George Allen to run.... cause he's a real man, wears cowboy boats and chews tobacco"
I didn't even have to say anything because the other men at the table tore him up.... even one who votes republican.
My beau the commie says "Why in the hell are you wearing cowboy boots or hats ya dumbass? ya live in Va., in a Va. Beach suburb and work in a transmission shop. Besides there are lots of cowboy boot wearing democrats out there now and I hope one of them kills and eats you!"... he's big on canabalism as of late

5. How about Bullies
We are all bullies now.

Cowboy hsa some positive connotations, so it's not an accurate represntation of the Bush Foreign policy.

8. Actually one of the nice things about W as a lame duck ....

... is that AMC is finally back to their normal lineup after four years in which they showed an inordinate amount of Westerns.
