ChoicePoint in today's papers; Huge ID theft ring and only CA noticed
In article by Rachel Konrad of AP today dateline San Francisco, ChoicePoint of Alpharetta GA had a hack of thousands of people in its database, yet only Californians were notified (due to a CA law ).

There are thousands of other Americans out there whose personal financial (and potentially healthcare) info was hacked. So I guess I'm providing the service of 'notice' that the FTC should have required.

ChoicePoint was the company Jeb Bush used to purge data in FL, I might add.

3. Our best hope on this kind of scandal is....
that this is some kind of 'inside' job in order to smoke out hackers and ID thieves.

If not that, then

hackers have it all over these corporate databases OR
these corporations are incompetent OR
the government wants these corporations hacked in order to do TIA OR
as I said above, some kind of LIHOP (let it happen on purpose) combination of the above.

Combine this with the recent SAIC hack in San Diego of our nation's intelligence personnel, and the TriWest healthcare hack of 500k soldiers medical records a few years ago...

Hopefully these 'hacks' were bait in order to catch the real bad guys. Or this country's got real problems !
