Catherine Crier Gets It!!!!
Just saw Ms. Crier on COURT TV absolutely tear a WSJ lackey a new one over his attempt to pooh-pooh Gannongate.

This doofus, whose name isn't worth remembering, said that it was a non-story unless the Plaime connection fleshes out -- but Crier had none of it, slamming home the point that a guy like Gannon getting a press pass exposes a HEUEUGE problem with security checks in the White House, on top of the Plaime connection.

Mr. Aravalos (?) from AMERICABLOG came across as very credible, and he has an ally in Crier, who promises to keep tabs on the Gannon story - and to give more exposure to the story.

Hurrah for Catherine Crier!

3. It's good therapy to cherish those small victories and take notes of
which corporate media reporters are true to their journalistic roots.

4. Crier
I always thought she was a conservative but I finally figured out she is a liberal. She is totally opposed to Creationism in schools. Her boyfriend is a scientist. She is also really good looking

9. She definitely sees the big picture
Even noted that, had this been the Clinton White House, planets and stars would be falling from the sky there'd be such a commotion.

She also read some of Howie Kurtz's blatherings, and noted what an idiot apologist he is. (My paraphrase.)

Online Nude Photos Are Latest Chapter In Jeff Gannon Saga

By Howard Kurtz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, February 16, 2005; Page C01

The Jeff Gannon story is still bouncing around the Internet, and now there are pictures.

The kind you shouldn't open up in the office.

The X-rated twist has made for a lot of clandestine clicking in a town where Deep Throat conjures images not of a porn star but of a man in a parking garage. But it has also deepened the debate over blogging and the tactics used to drive a conservative reporter from his job as White House correspondent for two Web sites owned by a Republican activist.

In most Beltway melodramas, the resignation ends the story. The problem for Gannon, whose real name is James Dale Guckert, is that he told The Washington Post and CNN's Wolf Blitzer last week that he never launched the Web sites whose provocative names he had registered, such as hotmilitarystud.com. But a Web designer in California said yesterday that he had designed a gay escort site for Gannon and had posted naked pictures of Gannon at the client's request.

The latest developments were first reported by John Aravosis, a liberal political consultant and gay activist who has a Web site called americablog.org. "What struck me initially was the hypocrisy angle," Aravosis said. He said he was offended by what he called Gannon's "antigay" writing.

10. She and Olberman are the only one's so far.
John of Americablog did an excellent job. He was equally on target when he smacked down Aaron Brown las week when Brown tried to pooh pooh the whole deal. He's been a good face to have out there on this issue. Also, just to add - I read on DailyKos that John Stewart may be doing something on guckertgate this evening.

17. If Crier is a CNN alum, she has got to be enjoying reporting
such a major story while CNN is still sipping the Kool Aid and trying to pretend it is a non-story.

She did a fine job in that interview. Now we need to just get her the info that leads straight to Rove, Card & Co. Sweet.

25. If Crier is from Texas . . .
It's very possible that Crier has a major axe to grind with Lame Duck--him being such a loveable and ethical critter and all.

After all the trashmouthing that the Right has done, including misstating statements made during interviews immediately afterwards (a fave of Fox) and the slander and calumny that they've heaped on Clinton and Kerry, I have NO sympathy for any rightie being proved wrongie. I especially have NO sympathy for someone who gaybashed and is proven to have websites that would bring most of the Christian Right to cardiac arrest.

Furthermore, this wasn't some sneaky papperozi type of invading his privacy -- HE POSTED THIS CRAP HIMSELF ONLINE and paid to have it done! He made the decision and has to live by it.

A parallel minor case happened at Earthlink where I worked. One of the supervisors posted nude pics of himself and his wife on a website he developed. Many a victim of his verbal abuse thoroughly enjoyed is discomfort as the link was circulated around. No one felt that he should be fired, but it's difficult to take anyone too seriously when they are shown in the altogether on the net.

27. Kick - We need to send KUDOS to CRIER!
Congratulate her for being one of the few to do her job.

She always was a feisty one, though.

I remember when CNN hired her straight out of the judge's chamber to be a prominent anchor, and she had to field questions from a lot of media critics and reporters and others who were, um, well, shall we say, a little jealous...

She did rawther well. She's actually smart.
