Time to turn the tables on Republicans. It's we Dems who are Pro-American

and we have to start driving this message home for the future sake of our Party.

Howard Dean needs to do it, Air America needs to do it, the liberal blogs need to do it, and we need to do it. I'm sick and tired of the real Americans, caring people like us Democrats/Liberals, who get unfairly branded as anti-this or anti-that. It's time to turn the tables on Republicans.

If anyone's un-American it's THEM, not us. We need to have our Democratic spokesmen all over the country drive this point home.

We have to take the words out of their mouths and put them into ours. From now on WE need to be perceived as the true Americans and the true patriotic citizens, and THEY as the unpatriotic UN-AMERICANS. Why? Because it's the truth and it's important to get it out.

You say sure, how are you going to convince anyone of that?

Well it's simple....we just turn the tables. Start with one of your neo-con acquaintances tonight and tell him it's HIS views that are un-American. It's easy to do because all you have to do is tell the truth. Democrats/Liberals are caring people. They care about America because they care about the lives of innocent people. They care about America because they care about the environment. They care about America because they realize that we might have to pay our fair share of taxes for the benefit of America. Neo-cons do not have these same values, which makes them anti-American in my book.

For example, if someone says the Left is un-American because of our stance on the war, well we answer like this: "No it's YOU people who are un-American. No true Americans would ever send their brave young citizens to die for an unjust cause. No real Americans would look the other way when their own gutless president is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths to innocent civilians over oil. That is not the American way, and anyone who promotes that kind of thinking is anti-American. If someone attacks us, it's us Democrats who will be ready and willing to defend our country. It's you conservatives who are afraid to stand up for you own country on your own land, and that's why you have no problem with bullying some small country half a world away....because you're afraid to stand up for America here at home. Not only are you anti-American but you're gutless cowards."

Or next time someone gripes about some of us tree-huggers putting the environment in the way of "progress", we need to respond by saying, "Anyone who would crap on this land for the sake of short-termed financial gain is Un-American. In case you forgot, America is America the Beautiful...it says so right in that song....and it's YOU who's drilling sideways under our pristine National Parks for oil and it's YOU who's out to log old-growth forests for political gain. YOU are Un-American, because no truly patriotic American citizen would rape their own land like you do. It's us Democrats who are trying to keep America beautiful."

Get the picture? We Democrats have always been a step behind in the accusatory department. Just because the other side is quicker to brand us as this or that, it doesn't mean they're accurate and it doesn't mean we can't paste them back with a dose of reality. Only we'll be telling the truth. It's time for us to let the truth out. It's time to brand THEM as Un-American and US as patriotic...and to be real loud about it. We've been letting the fascist Right get away with murder for too long with their unfair labels on us. Time to tell the rest of the country who the real patriots are and aren't. It's time to stop letting the Right push us around!

For the record, CONSERVATIVES ARE UN-AMERICAN. Just because they wave flags in your face doesn't make them pro-anything. They wave the flag for sake of hiding their ulterior un-patriotic motives. IT'S THE CONSERVATIVES WHO ARE UN-AMERICANS AND IT'S THE DEMOCRATIC WHO ARE THE REAL PATRIOTS, and it's time to start repeating it until it everyone sees the truth.

Or if that's too harsh for you to say, then use this mantra instead: "THERE IS NO ONE MORE PATRIOTIC AND AMERICAN THAN LIBERALS AND DEMOCRATS." Why? Because we care about doing what's right for our country, our people, and our environment.

Take you pick...but we have to start painting our side in the more positive pro-American fashion, and their side as the opposite. It just takes a paint brush, some paint, and the truth splattered all over the place. Democrats/Liberals are pro-America...Neo-cons are not.

Next repuke to ever tell me my side is anti-American or anti-patriotic is gonna get a bucketful of truth and logic shoved down his or her un-American throat!

1. Take it one more step, the best defense is a good offense.

Start attacking them. It's a known fact that the first statement is believed, whether it ends up being true or not. Start attacking those anti-american humanity hating conservatives.

Of course another big difference between them and us is who is willing to let others have their own beliefs and who feels obligated to force their beliefs on others. But I feel it's ok to attack and accuse their bs that is destroying us all.

All I meant is that don't wait for them to call us something and respond back, but attack first. Don't wait for them to say the left is un-american and respond back, start pushing it that the right is un-american/etc first. I don't know how to attack first without coming across as nasty though, so am appreciating all the thoughts that people have put forward to counter their bs claims.

is by proclaiming that it's we Democrats who are the true patriots. Then things fall naturally into place. They're only reaction is to disagree. It'll be they who comes across as nasty and that's when we can respond with logical reasoning as mentioned in the OP, where it's easy to show that people who are pro-American act and care as Democrats/Liberals do. When you repeat it enough, the truth becomes evident. Thanks for your input!
