Get this Jim Wallis guy to speak more!
He's respected by the evangelicals and atheists alike, he has a solid faith, and most importantly, he's got his priorities in order, i.e. Jesus said a lot about poverty, but not too much about gays.

Get Wasllis out there campaigning in '06 and I think you'll see a lot of church goers who actually have a conscience voting for the people he supports.

1. I don't think he would campaign for candidates.
He will speak out on specific issues but I would be really surprised if he ever campaigned for a particular candidate.

2. I wish we could hear more from the Religious Left.
We do exist. I think by and large those of us who fill the churches and synagogues on the weekends, who happen not to be fundamentalist Christians are not as inclined to wear our religion on our sleeves. Bible thumping tends to devolve too quickly into chest-thumping and it's antithetical to the way a lot of us believe. But, is there some way we can be counted, and let the right wing know that they don't own God?

3. as a religious speaker I do not agree with him getting into political
areas. I believe in the seperation of church and state period inherited from my fore fathers.

4. Why?
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 10:50 PM by independentchristian
He's just saying exactly the same things that I say, if you'd just listen. No, you all see the word "Christian" and you instantaneously get defensive.

I saw him on Meet the Press and he was repeating my talking points word for word.

5. Get him on the TV/Radio talk shows
Instead of Falwell, Robertson, and Dobson get Wallis on CNN, MSNBC, Faux, AAR. America needs people to say the truth. It is Christian to help the poor and disadvantaged.
