Would Jesus Privatize?
Just came from a Demo meeting planning actions to support Social Security. How do you talk to middle America? "Would Jesus Privatize?"

1. "render unto Caesar"..
and take it from there.

Nobody believes me when I say Jesus was a Socialist, so that's not a particularly good way to start.

5. Msgr Rice and Father Ward
say Jesus was a Socialist. That's good enough for me.

My Grandfather, as a life long project - wrote a concordance between the Old Testament and Karl Marx Das Kapital. Unfortunately Mom trashed it after Grand dad died - she was afraid of Red Squads.

Bottom Line - Grand Dad (who was a socialist) - concluded that God was also a Socialist.

6. Yeah, the OT...
seems to be saying that riches are evil unless used for good. Solomon, Job, and the others were simply caretakers of their wealth, to be used for the good of the 'hood.

Jesus continued that attitude.

It's not that you can't have money, in fact you should have some and not waste your life broke, but don't let money become a replacement for God and your worldly obligations.

We don't "own" anything, we are simply caretakers of whatever wealth we are blessed with.

2. We would have no poor.
So there would be no need to consider privatization. Everyone would share what they have with those who don't have anything.

God, what a concept!

3. apparently Jesus loves greedy corporations
at the expense of the poor, sick, and elderly :eyes: ridiculous

I could have sworn I read something in the Bible about Jesus going into the temple and throwing out the money changers and merchants...

7. Jesus would say...
Give unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's, and unto God that which is God's.
