one of these special;ists was a former high ranking CIA specialist and the other woman was with a international security institute

Something in one of the articles about it being "too big, too well-executed, and too well-informed to have been anything but an intelligence-based attack."

Among the theories they mentioned were Syria and, surprisingly, the Mossad (edit: I think they cited Muslims and crazy bloggers for this one, though ;))

3. The Mossad -
makes more sense than Syria, anyway....Syria has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to gain and EVERYTHING to lose from more Lebanese instability...lots of discontent regarding the Syrian Gov't's puppet Lebanese rulers...US and Israel whining constantly, etc...

smells of a set up...

now to put my AFB back on...

A popular Lebanese leader is taken out and now the people of that country are angry with Syria -- just at a time when Bush & Co. are heating up the rhetoric and looking to make Syria into the next target. Now Bush gets the benefit of the Lebanese peoples anger towards Syria, and perhaps makes it a bit easier (with one country at least) to act against Assaud.

As the Chruch Lady would say, "How conveeeeeenient!"

Re the conclusion:
"someone had to know when and in what car the former PM was going to be in"

Whaaah? The bomb in question was extremely powerful, so powerful that it destroyed "at least 20 cars" and extensively damaged several neighboring buildings. All the bomber(s) had to do was set off the bomb at some point in the motorcade. No specific targeting was necessary for them to create some serious damage.

It sounds like the American people are getting prepped for another phony war. Here's a report of the bombing scene right after it happened:

http://breaking.tcm.ie/2005/02/14/story189251.html

Lebanon bomb targeted top politician
14/02/2005 - 12:27:38

"A bomb targeting the motorcade of Lebanon’s most prominent politician killed at least nine people on Beirut’s famed seafront boulevard today.

<snip>

The front of the famous St George Hotel was devastated in the blast, with several balconies blown off.

Along the Mediterranean corniche, at least 20 cars were in flames or destroyed, and the fronts of several other buildings were heavily damaged, including a British bank and the landmark Phoenicia Hotel."

6. Either the US or Israel killed Hariri so they could BLAME SYRIA
and have their excuse for war.

Just like all the "martyrs" they had killed in Central America. Kill someone from your own side, create a martyr for your side, point the finger at whoever you want to attack.

7. From another thread on DU
The middle eastern press has gathered a lot of opinions on who might have gained and lost from Hariri's assasination. Israel and the US are accused by many. Check it out.

11. US and Israel are one and the same
Too a certain extent we can voice outrage against the US, but no dissenting against Israel allowed.

Ask Kerry:

In response to Dean's call for "even-handedness", Kerry admonished Dean in one of the debates:

"What were you thinking, Howard"
