Ok DU'ers - I need your help! Withdrawl from Iraq Letters Needed
Have any of you written a letter yet to you member of congress supporting, or urging support of Woosley's H.Con.R. 35?

Here is her release on it:
http://www.commondreams.org/cgi-bin/newsprint.cgi?file=/news2005/0209-12.htm

I am going to post a campaign on the PDA action center's website on supporting this resolution.

I would like to see some of you best letters to run it by our leg team.

We already have it on our radar here:
http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/issues/bills/?bill=6987171

I want to turn it into an action alert, and am swamped today. Would love to get see your letters! Post them here!

Thank you!

Kevin

1. it's just a plan for withdrawal
Not immediate withdrawal regardless of consequences. I support it, but it doesn't call for immediate withdrawal. I don't know anybody in Congress who does. In fact, Tom Hayden is the only one I know who is calling for immediate withdrawal regardless of consequences.

After the plan for withdrawal, HConR35 adds:

(2) develop and implement a plan for reconstructing Iraq's civil and economic infrastructure;

(3) convene an emergency meeting of Iraq's leadership, Iraq's neighbors, the United Nations, and the Arab League to create an international peacekeeping force in Iraq and to replace United States Armed Forces in Iraq with Iraqi police and Iraqi National Guard forces to ensure Iraq's security; and

(4) take all steps necessary to provide the Iraqi people with the opportunity to completely control their internal affairs.

3. I support SMART Security
Anything I wrote would include the need for the Democratic Party to sharpen the focus on national security, along the lines of SMART Security. There's links on the upper right hand side of this page:

Iraq withdrawal is rhetoric pleasing to the left, but it's not the same as policy and I have always found that it misrepresents what people mean when they talk about Iraq policy. Almost nobody is calling for immediate withdrawal from Iraq, not when you really read a plan.
