per recipient. I get so sick of the Rethugs, today Delay bringing up on INSIDE POLITICS that only two workers will be working for each recipient, but he doesn't tell you when this will happen. How many years --40 years. That's right 40 years. They never tell you that. And clueless Judy does not ask.

The surplus funds each year, which Social Security is bringing in with only 3.3 workers per recipient, were spent by Bush to pay for tax cuts for the rich, the war in Iraq--name your deficit spending, paid for with your FICA taxes.

1. This is such total bullshit
Past worker:retiree levels have been much lower. They only increased thanks to the rush of women into the workforce.

The present ratio is creating a 40% overpayment. Congress then snags that money and uses it to cover up what those tax cuts to the richest 1% have really cost the country.

Tell EVERYBODY you know about this. Don't let these BASTARDS rob us!

4. Don't forget that those women are now paying in, too.
Just thought I'd add that.

2. Have you looked at the population pyramid lately?

If there are sooooooooooo many baby boomers to worry about, why are there so many young workers already paying into the system?

Also, where's all the baby boomer $ that's left over because there are fewer older people?

5. Spent on tax cuts, "war on terra", yet still our '04 deficit near $500B!

For Fiscal 2004—which began in October 2003—if you factor out the $164 billion Social Security surplus, the on-budget deficit will be at least $639 billion, rather close to the modern peak of 6 percent of GDP.

8. It's like they look at that chart and panic, wondering
What are we going to do when that big bulge of boomers hits the top age bracket!!!

Conveniently forgetting that most of us WILL BE DEAD BY THEN.

I might live to see 2042, but my family's history argues against it. And 2052? Fuggedaboudit!

6. Argh! I've been caught!
That's what I get for loving school!

Facts are pesky little devils, aren't they?

BTW, the 50-54 age group in that chart is the baby boom group so often referred to as being "the problem."

What a crock!

7. It could be that Judy needs a strong hit of acid --
-- to put her in the perception zone.

Her interviews are awfully Presbyterian.
