2. We didn't have a statute for Watergate.
They can still appoint one.

10. They did it for Plamegate.
Nixon won over 60% in 1972, yet he had to appoint one when the heat got too much.

11. Plame involved outing a spy.
This involves giving a whore access to the WH press room. Not quite the same.

4. The statute REQUIRED special prosecutors
you can still have one without the statute.

12. PBS/Frontline story on Independent Prosecutor link very interesting
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/counsel/readings/clock.html

BBCs coverage was at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/382394.stm

law expired June 30, 1999 but I still think local grand juries in DC can do things. Even civil grand juries too depending on jurisdictions ... Any lawyers out there ?

14. Some interesting points to ponder with prosecuting the Gannon case
one of which is, Is Gannon a CIA employee ?

As such, with his cover blown -- possibly by himself-- could prosecution open up the pandora's box of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act, which has made hypocrites out of the present administration (witness the Philip Agee case at "Former CIA Agent Phillip Agee On the Wilson Affair, the Iraq Invasion and Why Bush Sr. Calls Him A Traitor"
http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=03/10/02/159258 ).

But if Gannon is part of a CIA "Operation Mockingbird" effort to domestically influence public opinion during 'wartime', or if Gannon turns out to be military PsyOps, things can get really weird.

I agree a Special Prosecutor is needed. I also think this IS some kind of Operation Mockingbird/PsyOps operation. If Congress refuses to investigate, this is really weird, only FOREIGN news entities can then de facto follow up with FOIAs -- as already untrustworthy MSM corporations are already mostly on the take with Operation Mockingbird involvement.

15. Which law do you believe were violated?
It would appear that at worst, some people did some politically underhanded, stupid, things. But so far no one has alleged that any laws were broken.

I'd make it just one facet of the investigation. I think we need a Special Prosecutor to look into the whole propaganda scheme coming from the White House-the "news segments" with fake reporters that the GAO has already said were illegal, the paid pundits and now Gannon.
