My family is from Central America. This man is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people. He was efficient. Here's a snip from "George Paine"'s blog entry over at warblogging.com:

"Negroponte oversaw the killing and torture of hundreds, maybe thousands, of Hondurans and some Americans. He funded a guerrilla group -- a terrorist group to some -- in direct and specific violation of American law. He lied to Congress to cover up his crimes."

I just called my reps, Boxer, Pelosi, Feinstein. NOBODY IS CALLING THEM about this. PLEASE call your reps. This guy honed his suppression skills in Central America. Please don't let him flex them here.

... diplomacy. I was horrified when Bush appointed him to the UN, enormously suspicious when he was moved to Iraq (curious, indeed, that talk of US-trained Iraqi death squads surfaced while he was there), and now, with this appointment, we've all got problems.

I've gotta admit it--the Bush White House certainly has managed to find the most cold-blooded brutal bastards to run their operation.

I have a friend who is a retired US Army intel officer who believes that if the real facts & truth got out about Negroponte's roll in Reagan-Bush's dirty little wars of Central America he would be arrested for international war crimes.

The impression given to the world by this appointment can not be underestimated. To the survivors of thew many tortures Negroponte sanctioned his appointment is akin to finding out that Adolf Eichmann became head of US Intel.

He will preside over the largest embassy in the world, and housed in the Republic Palace (misleadingly named Saddam's Palace by the U.S. occupation). He will be protected by high concrete walls, barbed wires and more than 150,000 occupation force, including several thousands of foreign mercenaries armed to the teeth with the most violent tools. Mr. Negroponte is Greek-American diplomat. He is currently leading the diplomatic war against the people of Iraq as the U.S. envoy at the United Nations (UN) in New York. Negroponte is Jewish. A friend in Spain expressed his deep concern to me recently: " to appoint a Jew as ambassador to the Arab country that has been devastated because of the will of a cabal of Jewish neocons headed by Wolfowitz ­ Bush is just an accessory -, is like trying to put off a fire using buckets of gasoline".

Mr. Negroponte has served as U.S. Ambassador to Honduras from 1981-1985; a period during which the U.S. military aid to Honduras grew from $5 million to nearly $100 million, and more than $200 million in economic aid, making Honduras the largest aid recipient in the region. Honduras was the launching pad from which the Reagan administration runs its violent "war on terror" in Central American. The U.S-backed atrocities and terror were condemned by the International World Court in the Hague (1). Like most of his colleagues in the Bush administration, Mr. Negroponte is a "recycled reaganites".

An agenda has already been set, because, after reading "Against All Enemies" I can't believe that someone without a proper background is capable of doing a competent job. He's a "yes" man who is just going to follow a certiain agenda. Help us all if the Bush Administration is once again faced with a dilemma that forces it to work out of plan.

the media isn't doing their job, but what about the "PEOPLE"? When did they stop thinking?

Things are going to get real scary if this guy becomes the Nat'l Intel Czar....I literally dropped a dish I had in my hand when I heard this and felt sick....

Its less than one month into his 2nd term...Gonzales, Rice, Chertoff and now Negroponte....I was telling my husband last month that we all have 6-9 months before either a terrorist attack or something big...(and ofcourse martial law being declared)....I give it now 3-6 months....
